Technically it's Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes, but it's all just Legion to me.

Rating: **

I've enjoyed the series from issue one, so I'll be sad to see Waid and Kitson go. Still, this was a weak issue. I enjoyed it, but I as soon as I saw Cosmo being tortured, I saw the ending coming.

Spoiler Warning

This issue serves as a bridge between The Dominators Are Going to Win half of the story and The Legion is Going to get Its Second Win and Kick ASS!!!! W00T!

Sorry.

Really, that's the whole plot. The turning point is a trap where, under torture, Triplicate Girl revels the location of the Legion's secret rallying spot. <sarcasm>Yah, that's not obvious. Really, I didn't see that coming.</sarcasm> Normally I don't do the whole "I Totalys aw that coming bit." It has a tendency to make people look like one of those 'Washington Insiders' who all said "Yeah, I knew Deep Thought was Mark Felt." But I like to think that other people over the age of six will read this issue and see plot twist from high orbit like the Great Wall of China.

What I enjoyed about this issue was what I like about most of Waid's writing, his character interaction. Waid has a lot of personalities to work with and he seems to do a good job of showcasing the right ones at the right times. His dialogue is great. So I can forgive a simple plot because that's not the only thing I like.

Oh, and there is a few pages at the beginning where Dream Boy dreams of Dream Girl. Obviously, the pay-off will happen in a future issue. Probably, a not-so-distant future issue, given the state of things. :p

You may have seen the end coming, but you gotta admit that the execution of the plan was fantastic! Great stuff with Cosmic Boy.

My only problem is that this arc's been going on forever and there's STILL three more issues even AFTER this climax.

Thats been the problem with Waids whole run. It just seems to go on and on and on. I mean the first storyline took a year and was as exciting as watching paint dry. At least with this long drug out arc there is some action to keep you some what interested.
I am glad Waid/Kinston only has 3 more issues. Waid has been a total flop on this series almost from the start. Hard to belive that this book which I have thought was mediocre at best for the whole run is by the same guy currently wrting Brave and Bold which is qucikly becoming one of my favorites.

I liked it. But then I have been a legion fan since I was a kid. I like the end of this issue. Cos rocks baby! Uncorked and in a bad mood.

So, how do people think this storyline ties into 52? With the big, creepy Dominator head at the beginning of last issue intoning, "Remember the fifffdee-tu", I think it's safe to say there's a connection, but I haven't seen any comment about it on the board yet (maybe I missed it).

Any theories?

How does 52 ripple into the future (assuming that's where we actually are), and why does it make The Dominators want to conquer Earth to the point that it's a rallying cry for them?

Yeah, that's my only gripe with Waid and Kitson's LoSH. It's been great, every issue's been hands down awesome, but the backdrops are wearing thin. First we had a robot uprising, which was pretty cool, and had some awesome fight scenes loaded with metal carnage; and meanwhile, we had a time-displaced Supergirl, which was interesting. Then we find out the Dominators are behind the robot rebellion, and while we've had even more interesting moments with Kara, no real development.

While I've been enjoying the hell out of this book, I'm really looking forward to to this arc ending.

You may have seen the end coming, but you gotta admit that the execution of the plan was fantastic! Great stuff with Cosmic Boy.The execution was great. And the part where Cos says "No need. I'm up." was awesome. Waid's Cosmic Boy took some time to warm-up to, but He really came into his own towards the end of the las arc.

Thats been the problem with Waids whole run. It just seems to go on and on and on.The length of the arc doesn't bother me because Waid throws-in one-shot stories and the like.

Hard to belive that this book which I have thought was mediocre at best for the whole run is by the same guy currently writing Brave and Bold which is quickly becoming one of my favorites.I don't find it hard to believe at all. Legion of Super-Heroes has the largest ensemble in comics. Brave and the Bold only focuses on two characters at a time, and it focuses on plot and personality. Character plays a part, but not character development. Legion has to have plot, personality, and character development for over a dozen characters. The premises of the titles is very different.

That was one of the most awesome moments in comics this week. (Not quite as awesome as Runaways vs. The Punisher, but still, awesome.)
