Honestly...not sure I care for Kirkman's twist. But is it possible Professor X might be Jean's father...and his love for her completely platonic?
I think I would enjoy that.

It's not Kirkman's twist. It's a crappy rehash of the 616 Xavier's love for Jean.

Why they felt the need to bring that into the Ultimate Universe, I have no clue. :p

I always thought it was one of the only realistic and humanizing emotions in the entire history of the Marvel Universe...

I'm willing to admit that Xavier's love for Jean definitely creates some drama...but at what price?
Twists like this, or like Nightcrawler's going off the deep end, make it especially hard to like the characters in question. The stories are perhaps intellecutally engaging, but the characters are creepy. What's more, I find myself less concerned with enjoying the stories as they progress, and more concerned with simply reaching a resolution. In comics as character centric as the X-Men...I wonder if this is a problem.

That would be cool if he is her father

IIRC, I believe his words were "I'm in love with Jean" though.
But I could be wrong

Exactly.

Because Kirkman loves stupid plots for shock value only, and believe me, bad as it is, it's not the low point of his run in Ult. X-men.

That's correct.

"I'm in love with Jean"
Hrmm. Well...so much for my idea. Were he her father and "in love" with her...definitely not good.

i dont see what the big deal is with the prof loving jean. so what? it was one of his first students and if you go through all of millars and bkv's runs there is plenty of evidence of jean and xavier having a connection. the fact that there is two super powerful telepaths living in the same building without having a distinct fascination for the other would seem odd. at least i would think so.

Don't most people love Jean? I thought that was her gimmick. Jean is Love

So what that he's 20 something or 30 years older than her, she's a teenager whom he met when she was underage, and with whom Xavier had a father-daughter relationship.

it just brings in an unnecessary, and tasteless might I add, plot point. And the sad thing is Scott is such an idiot he plays into it and disbands the X-Men because he hates the idea of being threatened by anyone who Jean has a 1% chance or more of leaving him for, even if the man is "dead" to them. He did the same thing when Jean screwed Wolverine, he went and left the team cause he couldn't handle it, and now he's screwing over everyone else in the process.
I just hope when the Prof comes back Jean hooks up with him, just because Scott would probably commit suicide because of it:D .

Add in the fact that Prof X has always had a Skin tight Spandex school uniform, and Jean is no stranger to the mini-skirt........
Yeah... He's always been a creepy old man.
