Hmm...I could have sworn there was a 52 #48 thread already....
I thought it was ok. The Montoya plot probably interests me the least now that Charlie is dead, so I'm glad they are getting on with it, I want Booster's arc to close the series.
Batwoman isn't dead. She appeared in the DCU Holiday Special, and we heard Flamebird refer to her "Aunt Kathy" in present tense in a recent issue of Teen Titans.

- We don't know when that Christmas Story occured, it could have been during 52.
- I don't think Flamebird has appeared in Teen Titans since the One Year jump.

It was the scene where Miss Martian was scanning the Earth looking for the Titans' traitor and we heard the thoughts of the various Titans across the world.

The art this issue was a little too sloppy for my tastes. I am also surprised that with Gotham lighting up like a bon fire night wing doesn't have the ability to call other heroes to help him out.

I'm holding onto the hope that Batwoman survives, mind you - there's plenty of good reasons why DC wouldn't kill her. It's just that, when a lesbian character in the mainstream media takes a life-threatening injury, her chances tend to be slim, and after a while you get pessimistic...
What a shot, though - taking out Mannheim with a dagger pulled out of her own chest. You go girl  Once she's back on her feet, she'll rule the next Bat-Get-Together - I'd like to see Batman come up with something more hardcore than that.
And I have to say, pillars of fire, and trying to turn Gotham into an Apokoliptan fire pit? To borrow a quote, as evil plans go, it doesn't suck.

Issues 47 and 48 were so... weak. I know DC has to resolve the whole Batwoman/Crime Bible/Montoya as the new Question, but does it have to so boring?
They should really focus on more building towards the climax. Like, oh, I don't know, SKEETS? There are only four issues left!

For me, I really have no interest in the new Question or Batwoman - so my interest level in this particular issue was low.
I don't know if others feel the same way, or if they had different reasons for not writing more about this one.

I really enjoyed this issue but did not really like the artwork. The Montoya/ Batwoman/ Question storyline has been my favorite storyline in 52, and it was nice to get back to these characters after the past several issues focusing almost exclusively on Black Adam. I was skeptical about Montoya becoming the Question at first but have enjoyed it so far. I would love to see a Question series by Rucka after 52.

While I don't think Batwoman is dead either, we don't know that Kate Kane is Flamebird's "Aunt Kathy." Kate's mother is also named Katherine, and Flamebird could have been referring to her. The modern Kate has never been called "Kathy" so far.

After a string of really strong issues, I agree that these last two have been particularly weak. I honestly don't care for Montoya as The Question, and Batwoman does nothing for me in the slightest. The best part of this storyline, Vic Sage, is dead now, so I'm looking forward to this part being wrapped up already so we can shift the focus back to Black Adam.

Montoya has been uninteresting since she left the GCPD. And I didn't particularly enjoy the artwork. And the animalmorph henchmen just seemed juvenile and make Whisper less threatening since she's no different than the multiple henchmen.
Egg-Fu was the best page of the book.
Next issue looks awesome! METAL MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought the art was frenzied, but I liked how it looked. This issue's art is definitely better than some other issues of 52 we've seen thus far.
And as for being surprised Nightwing doesn't have the ability to call other heroes to help him out...In this case, I'd simply assume Nightwing doesn't really have the time to put out a superhero craigslist ad through oracle asking for help. He'd rather spend his time solving the problem. Seems like a reasonable assumption to me.

This was also a favorite storyline of mine until Vic Sage faded out.
The only way DC can make up for it in my opinion is if they find a way to introduce Rorschach into the DCU.

Yeah, I read this one in a hurry, didn't check the name out, loved the art, went back and found it was Darick in a fuzzy mood. Thought it really suited the story.
So we've got the Batwoman/Question wrap-up to go. God I hope that winds up in a happy one-liner.
And we've got the Adam WW3 to go.
And we've got Buddy's wrap up to go (and, I guess, Adam Strange and Starfire -- I'm guessing the show up in the last couple pages, asking "Did we miss anything?")
And the Booster closeout at the finale of WW3.
That's quite a lot to fit in for four books, ain't it.

This was the worst issue in the 52 series so far.
I wasn't crazy about the previous issue, thought it was just OK.....And the rest of 52 I liked quite a bit........But the current issue was just dull as all hell. The artwork was horrid, the fight scenes were very uninspiring, and whether she died or not, the Batwoman stabbing was a bit too anti-climactic for my tastes.
I remember people complaining about the "deaths" of Animal Man & Booster Gold, saying there wasn't much to the deaths. I actually didn't mind those, and if they had really died, I would have been OK with the situations.......The Batwoman "death" was far more underwhelming.

I don't think she's dead.
Many of the characters in 52 were not allowed to be seen in other comics that are set after 52 to not spoil their fates.

bombastic art license.
I liked this ish well enough, I hope the new Question goes on to solve more mysteries after 52 is over.

Didn't DC announce there would be a Batwoman series after 52 and that Batwoman this time around would be lesbian?
Hmm, the dead lesbian cliche? "Buffy" never recovered from that. Then again, a lousy final season didn't help.
Assuming Batwoman survives and gets her own comic, I find her capture and the ability to restrain her like that a bit too easy. Could they have captured and restrained Batman so easily for an equally prolonged period of time? I think not.

because batman has a health plan that includes a sidekick homing in on his position.
Batwoman didnt get that plan, although hers does feature a nice dental...
So Montoya is now the Question?
Like this was any kind of surprise?
Color me unimpressed.

That's hardly a fair comparison...by all accounts BW is an athletic vigalante with some $ but little training or practical experience. Even after all his training, Bruce got stabbed and nearly arrested his first night out. Give her a decade, maybe she'll be in the justice league.:)
I love '52'. The many different sub-plots have been overall incredible. I seriously think '52' is the most impressive comic book accomplishment of the decade.
That said...the Renee Montoya & Batwoman / Gotham story has been horridly uninteresting. Charlie was the only aspect of the story I found engaging. But Montoya the character...no thanks. Dull. Way too introspective. And dare a say...an overall brutish feel to the story as well.
Batwoman. Here's one comic buying fan who hopes she's dead (as in not returning dead). What a corporate ploy gimmic character! "Let's be 'hip' with a lipstick lesbian superheroine!". Wow...how 1998 of you, DC!
These last two issues have been the worst of this great '52' series. Here's hoping the Powers That Be take the fan's opinions of these last two issues into account going forward.

Well.. I wasn't looking forward to Montoya as The Question, but I did enjoy when she finally donned the mask. Anyone else crazy enough and still hoping somehow Vic is still around?
You know, I somewhat wish they had the Montoya and Vic and Kate as a separate monthly book. This weekly format was fun, but I wish I saw more of that story in its own book.

Final season? Bah. I'm two issues into the new season and I'm enjoying it. Heh.

It's just comics, Jake.
Have we seen the body? Of course he'll be back.

I hope, man, this Renee Montoya Question is lame, and kinda kills the concept...

Great issue IMO. That scene, that one scene when Montoya truely becomes the question, binary gas and all, really felt satisfying to me. And the move Batwoman pulled?! That should now be dubbed "The Knife Trick". I really hope she survives to return in a Bat-title this year.
Oh and, where's Skeets?!?! What happened to all his rampaging and such? Where's Booster and Rip?! Four more issues guys...better see some resolution...

Yeah, I agree. The past few months have been very Montoya and Black Adam centric, and I need to see what's going on with Booster Gold, Animal Man, Starfire, and Adam Strange... not just one-page snippets.
