My games/ dvds were taking really long to load. I mean, really long. Like five minutes for a game and upto ten for a movie. So I decided to man up and clean the lens on my own. Everything was going well and jolly until I plugged it back in, and hit power.

It didn't turn on.

Anyone know what I might have done by accident (there may have been some banging involved, but nothing major like dropping) or something? Or how I can fix it on my own?

Am I royally screwed?

How did you "clean" it?

Well, it turns out it wasn't such a big deal.

Apparently, while cleaning the lens (opening up my ps2, screwing open the top of the CD Drive revealing the lens, use cotton swabs to apply alcohol) the ribbon that goes from the power button and open button area to the ps2 got disconnected (not ripped, thankfully). So after playing jenga with a ribbon and tweezers, I got it hooked back in and everything is hunky dory.

Well, the original problem was never solved and it still takes a while to load up a game, but I'm too lazy to open it back up again. Besides, I think I totally FUBAR'd one of the smaller screws inside the ps2 making it a pain to twist.
