48 pages? Come on DC, make it a 52-page issue, even if the other four pages are ads. :D

That's what you call looking a gift horse in the mouth.

Now this is good. No extra cost. I'm really looking forward to see how they cram all the loose ends into 40 pages.

See, that was a joke. With all the 52 synchronicity around the book, I'm surprised it's not 52 pages. It's only one more sheet of paper per book after all.

ha ha ha. I like that, and I agree it would make more sense for the last issues to be 52 pages.

This is the kickass whip cream topping the !@#$ing awesome cake that is 52. All four writers, forty pages of story, full crew of awesome artists. Very nice.

Very nice, indeed. Man, I really have loved 52. For an entire year I knew that at least one book I got each week would be enjoyable on some level. I can only hope that Countdown is as entertaining.

Figures the last issue was an extra one, with all the stories going on, I'm glad they are taking the extra pages to end the whole story.

It's a printing thing. Page counts on magazines and comics almost always have page counts divisible by eight.

Er, no, it's divisible by four. Trust me, this is my job, and I've got printed documents on my desk with 12 or 20 pages.
EDIT: Aarg, just re-read my post and it's far too harsh. Sorry dude.

I hope to goodness you're right, PastePotPete. Paul Dini is just plain awesome, I personally loved McKeever's work on Mystique, and felt Palmiotti outdid Johns when he took over the Hawkman title. I definately have high expectations, but I'm trying to keep them in check until I have the first few issues in hand.

I'm not saying it's impossible. I'm saying magazines and comics usually print two-up, meaning they print four pages of the finished product on one pass through the press. Then they flip the paper over and print four more. Then the pages are trimmed, collated and bound. It's cheaper that way. I used to work in printing. Even went to skool for it. ;)

Hadn't thought of this either. I didn't consider that they'd be printing 4-up. Makes total sense.
