Welcome to the second match of the 2007 DC League! The DC League is a large-scale series of battles—a tournament—where posters draft teams and pit their teams against that of other posters, and you vote to decide who wins. When voting, please consider the strategies the players have written, rather than just the team's roster.
Each match is taking place at night in the middle of an abandoned city street 100 yards away from each other, and each character (with few exceptions) depicted is in his/her most frequent incarnation (with few exceptions), and the characters have to act in character (meaning that the heroes cannot kill if they aren't normally wont to do so).
If you have any questions about the strategies, please feel free to post these questions here, and the players will answer. The match will last twenty-four hours. After that time period, the player with the largest number of votes wins.
NOTE - For your vote to count, you must have a post count of no lower than fifty.
Today’s second match: Aztec Ace vs. Dipset Byrd Gang
Aztec Ace: Alan Scott, The Demon, Green Arrow, Power Girl, Empress, Moon Maiden
Dipset Byrd Gang: Martian Manhunter, Firestorm, Psimon, Atom, Ocean Mastor, G’nort, Stargirl, Misfit

Aztec Ace’s strategy:
First off to keep the opposing team off balance, Mood Maiden will reduce the gravity under the enemy team to near weighlessness.
Seeing a possible difficulty with Psimon. Alan Scott will engluf him him in a energy sphere with a small hole facing the direction of my team. Through this hole Green Arrow will first putt a smoke arrow followed by a sonic arrow. Then Scott will close up the hole and let the arrows do it's work.
Martian Manhunter is the other teams big hitter so I will concentrate Power Girl and Etrigon on him using both their super speed and strength and Etrigon's magic fire.
Once the Manhunter is down then they will start to mop up the other enemy like Firestorm.
Empress will be held in reserve to counter any unforseen stratagies of the enemy. She will teleport to any trouble makers and tell them to stand still. She will then beat the stuffings out of them with her batons.

Dipset Byrd Gang's strategy:
Phase 1 (happens instantly and all at the same time) (3 minds as One)
-Jonn, Psimon and Ocean master Psi link with the team and protect from any mind-probing from the other team such as Demon and Empress. The three of them are in a telepathic tandem like they or working as one. Jonn also goes inside G’nort head and gives him temporary confidence to use his powers like other GLs. Psimon and Ocean Master attack the other team telepathically especially the Demon and Powergirl. They will be messing with demons human side and temporarily prevent him from changing into the demon. Using their telepathy. And have team see illusions of another team that is not really there as a decoy. If Moon Maiden tries to control are gravity Psimon will counter it with his telekinesis.
-Jonn turns intangiable and speed blitzes to the other team. He goes right for Alan Scott and if he has a shield up he will phase through it. He will stick his intangable hand inside Alan Scott and turns it solid and puts out the battle. He then continues the telepathic assault on the opposing team.
-Firestorm will turn any projectiles, powers or energy directed at my team into feathers using his powers and that includes arrows.
- G’nort puts up a square shield around himself, Psimon, Ocean Master, Misfit and Atom. This to protect from projectiles, speeding people like Powergirl, arrows or someone triing to knock Ocean Master’s trident out of his hand. This shield should protect them for a while.
-Stargirl goes to the air while holding Misfit and The atom will has turned to microscopic size. Misfit teleports the them to the opposing team 100 feet in the air. Stargirl starts firing blasts at Empress and Moon Maiden. This should keep them busy. Atom rides the blasts to power girl. She should be seeing the illusion team or getting her head messed with by Jonn, Ocean Master and Psimon. He enters Power girl’s brain through her head. And he takes her out the same way he did Darkseid in the Rock of Ages. By taking out his brain.
-Firestorm speeds to the other team as well and if there are any shields up he changes the molecular structure of them and turns them into feathers. He starts to projecting nuclear bolts at the opposing team.
End of phase 1
-results Alan Scott and Power girl out of the battle. Demon having trouble transforming . Rest of team should be chasing a fake team and having their minds messed with by tps. And Stargirl and Firestorm on the edge.
Phase 2 (Finish these Beotches)
-G-nort with his new found confidence takes Ocean Master and Psimon towards the other team in his GL bubble as he a ppraoaches the other team. Firestorm regroups with them.
G-nort lets his shield down and creates hundreds of Green GL men to attack the other team. Firestorm will protect Psimon and Ocean Master from any incoming projectiles while they continue their assault.
-By now Demon should be able to turn into the Demon. So Martian Manhunter and the 100 GL’s attack him before he fully his able to turn into the Demon. MM fires his martian vision at full force and knocks him into empress. She is taking out the battle.
That leaves Moon Maiden, Demon and Green arrow.
-Firestorm turns all of Ollie’s arrow into feathers and then Stargirl blasts him from behind with her cosmic rod. HE is out of the battle.
-G-nort traps Demon and Moon Maiden inside a GL bubble to hold him. Then MM, Ocean Master and Psimon attack them telepathically. They have Moon maiden think Demon is MM. She uses her gravity powers and tosses him into orbit. The rest of the team overwhelms Moon Maiden. And when Demon comes back down they overwhelm as well. My team is enough to take out Demon when he is by himself.
The battle is won by my team.
-keynotes
1 Martian Manhunter Is one of the most powerful tps in the DCU and he shouldn’t have trouble multitasking his powers. HE has done it before. He also should be able to give G-nort confidence since he has none and MM is very powerful and it is only temporary.
2 The combined telepathic might of Ocean Master, Psimon and MM will be able to send illusions, mess with people’s mind and temporarily stop Demon from transforming since he starts out the match in human form. It is temporary and it is 3 powerful telepaths doing this at once and together in union.
3. G-nort with his new found confidence doesn’t do anything that other GLs haven’t done. So he is good to go.
4. Misfit is a teleport and teleported over long distances.
5. The atom has gone inside peoples bodies before and so as the wasp who is way bigger than the Atom at small size.

I have to be honest, i have huge problems with both strategies, one is WAY too short and vague, and the other seems full of problems, for example, i dont see telekinesis being a counter measure for a gravity change in ANY way at all, that strategy also has other mistakes but I am leaning one way.

I definitely appreciate Dipset's longer strategy. It goes more into detail on how his team wins. Aztec's strategy doesn't leave much room for error, so if anything didn't go as his plan says it will, it would seem like his whole plan would just fail. But I will say, Dipset's union of the psychics does sound kind of fishy. I know that John can link all the members' minds so they can communicate with each other, but it would take a very well training team to work together how Dipset explains they will.
I gotta give it to Dipset though for the better explaination.

I don't think Martian Manhunter can take down Alan Scott in the method described.
I don't believe Firestorm can convert energy into anything. He can convert matter, so I'll give him the arrows and various other projectiles.
Nothing is done to counter the opening move of anti-gravity. Therefore, in that moment of confusion, such things as taking down Psimon or instigating the assault on Martian Manhunter should be possible.
Also, I believe it was stated that he would start in Demon form and, therefore, should not have any trouble transforming.

Misfit, Atom and Stargirl teleport as soon as the match starts.
G-nort puts up a shield to protect my team in the bubble.
Psimon counters with his telekinesis.
THe tps send the other team on a goose chase with the illusions.

I don't buy the MM giving G'nort confidence move. However, it doesn't really change anything as even if it doesn't work DGB still mops the floor with Aztec Ace. No counter to MM speed blitz or Ocean Master is given.
I have to give it to DBG.

I'm really a DC idiot and I don't know too much about DC. I started collecting DC about 5 years ago and I only collect around 3-7 DC titles at a time.
A lot have moves I did on the first much were new things I thought might work.

G'Nort puts up a shield (your own words) after psychic probing from J'onn (which, like Dr. Killbydeath, I am wary of), which not only allows for the anti-gravity to kick in, but a shield wouldn't even block it if it were up when Moon Maiden struck. Psimon may have telekinesis, but you have him initially using his telepathic powers. And if he's busy trying to create illusions with the other telepaths, how does he use his telekinesis to weight everyone down?

Sorry for the brief strategy. I was pressed for time one Sunday and had to rush to write something up and send it to Jessica. It's no excuse though. I bet I only spent less than 5 minutes on it.
I promise to do much better next round.
But still vote for me!!!

This is a toughie.
I don't wanna vote for Aztec Ace, his strat was entirely too vague.
And I don't really wanna vote for Dipset's, because I don't buy half of the things his team does.
-J'onn simultaneously links with the other pschics, speeds to the other side, takes out Alan Scott, and gives G'Nort confidence? I don't know if I buy that, but it's the least of my concerns.
-Giving G'nort confidence is great and all, but confidence does not give him intelligence or creativity or skill or even any extra willpower. So I don't buy all of his moves, especially creating 100 functional GLs.
-I also don't buy Psimon counteracting the loss of gravity with telekinesis. Could he do it, maybe. But not easily, and not while linking with the other psychics. So the 3-psychic combo becomes a busy J'onn, a busy Psimon, and the loser that is Ocean Master.
-The Demon starts the match as the Demon, and even if he didn't, I don't see how telepathy would affect a magical transformation that he can't perform willingly anyway. So he's left unaffected throughout the whole first phase, and with his power level, that's a huge no-no.
-This new Atom is a rookie. I don't buy him riding energy blasts or being willing (or able) to go into someone's head and kill them.
-Can Misfit teleport anyone besides herself? I don't remember ever seeing it.
So I think I have to give it to Aztec Ace. His vaguness saves him, because at least I can imagine his team "mopping up Firestorm", for instance, whereas I can't get behind Dipset's more detailed but unbelievable strategy.

Does G-nort need confidence to make ashield around his team, JH did with G-nort 2 years ago and it was ok. It is not like a made him do something you need creativity to do.
And you are telling me that Jonn a very strong telepath that has superspeed can't stay psi linked fly across the field and take someone out. That is possible.
Even if Misfit can't teleport other people, The atom is microscopic and he can teleport on her. And he can still take out Powergirl. It sound take her out and not kill her.
If the tps are all psi-link they can go off and do other things because the other two are picking up the slack.

The wall is okay. I'd believe G'nort could do that even on his own. It's the 100 GLs that pummel the Demon (who's both powerful and yellow) I question.
And you are telling me that Jonn a very strong telepath that has superspeed can't stay psi linked fly across the field and take someone out. That is possible.
Like I said, he was the least of my concerns.

Possibly. But that doesn't explain Stargirl, which messes up his plan to ride down on her energy beam (which I don't think he could do anyway).
And he can still take out Powergirl. It sound take her out and not kill her.
There are ways to take her out without killing her maybe, but you said they did what Atom did to Darkseid. And that killed him.
If the tps are all psi-link they can go off and do other things because the other two are picking up the slack.
But they're all always doing something else. The only one actually able to focus on the link the whole time is Ocean Master, who's by far the weakest of the three.

This is pretty much my reasoning. After Dipset's initial counters, Aztec's team doesn't really have any plans. I could see G'Nort trying to do 100 imaginary Lanterns and maybe getting one or two produced, but that would still work. Also, if Aztec's team doesn't have any direction, Jonn could take as much time as he needs to get things going.
I'm going to vote for Dipset. However, I think I should point out that, given time and effort, Aztec's strategy could have been fleshed out and made a formidable one.
I'll have to think about this one some more before I vote. Right now I'm leaning towards Dipset for the sole reason of G'Nort's 100 Lantern attack. I agree with Sean that it would never actually happen, but it's such a fun idea that I want to support Dipset just based on that.

I don't know which way to vote. One strategy isn't detailed enough, and the other relies on moves that can't be done.
I'm with others that I don't buy G'Nort pulling off those moves even with the confidence boost. Making 100 GL's would be too tough for him because each one of those GL's would have to be controlled and focussed on for them to make 100 different constructs. Him creating a bunch of soldiers I would buy, but not GL's.
Firestorm cannot convert all forms of energy.
Misfit can only teleport herself.
Also, telepaths in the DCU operate differently than in the Marvel U. Not all can create illusions. For example, Martian Manhunter can read minds and link minds, but he cannot create illusions. Martians can only create that state once in their life, and MM used it already.

Once again Psimon can create illusions.
My words were probably worded wrong, I mean 100 regular people for G'nort to make.
Firestorm converts some energy, not all.
My stratey is flawed, but not that flawed.

I'm finding this difficult too. Aztec, you are way to vague and slap dash. You've given your reasons but do I reward you for not having time. Byrd you have concocted a very imaginative and detailed strat but lots of it wouldn't be possible. I'm giving it to you because of your imagination. If you had gone up against a more detailed strat I doubt you would have got my vote. So 1 for Byrd from me.

Sean does a great job of summing up my concerns - Dipset's team does way too much that doesn't seem feasible or within the characters' abilities and struggles in the opening moves, but Aztec's strat is thin and vague.
Overall I'm going with Aztec, but I don't find either strategy particularly convincing
