What will Darkseid's role be in the new huge DC event coming up?

Anyone have any ideas?

The mastermind behind the whole thing.

Admit it, it has been far too long since Darkseid actually made a actual attempt to rule all of creation. And those attempts he has had have been half-hearted, at best (seriously, you think he's actually been TRYING during the Jobberseid era?). He's probably going to go all-out with badassedness not seen since the DCAU Darkseid's various attacks on Earth, all of which ended not with Darkseid defeated, merely delayed (with the possible exception of the end of JLU, and that's only because the series ended). If done right, it'll be awesome.

He's definitely going to have a big part in Countdown.

What's interesting is that supposedly he's trying to find the anti-life equation (which I thought he had already). I don't understand why DC has him lose so much these days, if Marvel can have a top tier threat like Thanos who is working in pretty DC Pre Crisis standards I don't know why they can't revert Darkseid to that level of power.

DC probably needs someone for Superman to beat up, and he hasn't beaten up Darkside in a while so they figured he's perfect for the role.

Note that this isn't what I want to happen... merely what I suspect DC will go given their track record for Jobberseid.

I'd like to see some Darkseid bad assitude. Maybe he could off Superboy Prime to build up some galaxy cred......

What is Darkseids current status? Isn't he suppossed to be an evil businessman or something like that? I didn't follow that Seven Soldiers stuff so I'm not sure.

He's sitting by the phone waiting for someone to call to use him in a comic and/or cartoon. Sometimes while waiting he crushes the windpipe out of a random lackey or parademon while shouting "Why do they not call?! How dare they keep the Lord of Apokolips waiting!!! How B-listers must fall before my Omega Beams in order for me to get some respect?!" He also is trying to find out how to send a fan email to Micheal Ironside to thank him for doing such a wonderful performance voicing him on the superman and JL/JLU cartoons.

Darkseid is now a music mogul , has already started with William Hung and now unleashing hell on earth by releasing further music albums by Kevin Corvais & Sanjaya and all the awful american idol contestants and playing them on airwaves. ;)

Yeah he was freed in the Superman/Batman books by Superman and he knocked Supes back into the sourcewall.

I read somewhere a few years ago, and this might be related to only the DCAU, that there is a mage huge crisis in the year 2009. I think it was related only to the DCAU, but come to think about it, if Countdown ends in May 2008, then add a few months of crisis and events and stuff, and 2009 is pretty close to being the date a major event happens in the DCU.

Again, I read something similar, but regarding the DCAU, I have no idea if that is even true, let alone if it has something to do with the comics DCU, but if it is true.. then Darkseid is the man to carry it out.
