The FF went back in time, and busted in on Diablo's little ordeal just as he is about to grant himself immortal life. To get immortal life he must release a deadly energy that could destroy a world, but the big problem is that Diablo will have the energy destroy the future world where the FF come from.

It was an alright issue in my opinion, nothing too special. I'm starting to get tired of UFF. I loved Millar's run on the book, and "God War" was very well done, but I'm not liking this new arc. It's just not what I want to read. I think I may drop this book, though the Ult. Silver Surfer arc may be pretty good. So, open up the discussion, let your opinions flood this thread, and start talking comics.

I'm one of the biggest Carey fans around.... but I agree. These last couple of issues have been lackluster. Granted this issue was better than the last issue, but it's really nothing special as far as it's gone.

Curious, as the more mystical stuff is usually his forte, but I'm really wishing for another cosmic story out of him.

God War was an alright read but it was a storyline that is forgetable and have to re-read the last ish and then start on the new one to remember what the current storyline is about. Diablo arc is getting to be a drag on kind of arc. Hope the Silver Surfer arc is gonna be good. I'm a carey fan but I personally think that the UFF is just not his cup of tea. He would do better if he was given UXM and re-vamp it to his image or the Ultimates for that matter. His Ultimate vision mini is good though. I'm sure Carey will make kick ass storylines for FF in the future to come.

It really blows that the Ultimate universe is declining lately with UXM stinking, medicore UFF, as well as Ultimates being late. Spidey is the only strong title for this line.

Am I the only one who sees the flaw in Diablo's plan, he's doing this so he can live forever. But the process will release energy that would destroy the world. So he sets it up the the world in the future is destroyed. The thing is if he's immortal he'll be there when it happens, either way he's screwed himself. This villain sees incredibly short sighted.

Haha, nice comment Orion. I thought this title started out well but for the last few issues, it seems to be running out of steam. 616 FF never did it for me either but hopefully the Surfer can bring the book back up before I drop the title. The artwork was great, I love the way they draw Ultimate Thing.

I've officially dropped this book, #39 was my last. I just find I end up skimming the book and can't get into it anymore. I have to say I'm curious about the Silver Surfer arc coming up, I might pick up the trade.

Hopefully the rumor about Millar coming back to this title are true :D If that happens I'll be right back into it!

yup, Ive officially dropped this as well. Kolins and Brooks are just not dynamic enough art-wise. And Carey seems out of his element. I dunno.

If that were to happen I'd be back on this title in a heart beat. I loved his run, the only story I had a problem with was "President Thor", but even that really wasn't too bad. "Frightful" & "Crossover" were awesome though. Millar please return!! Until it happens, I'm done with UFF.

Sorry, but I couldn't disagree with you guys more. I'm finding this a very exciting storyline, specially for a fill-in. Carey's really achieved something with Diablo here. He's turned a joke villain into a genuinely menacing bad-ass that you can actually take seriously.

The pacing isn't dragging at all for me either. It feels to me like a perfect mix of story, action and characterization, which works really well for the FF.

Most villains are incredibly short sighted.

But, anyway, i completely disagree with most posters here. This was a great issue, the villain is interesting, the pace is good, and the characterization and the action scenes are cool.

I actually think that Diablo's messing with a divergent timeline, and not his own. Isn't that how time-travel typically works?

A big let down after Carey's excellent first arc.

And does Invisible Woman look like she's pregnant on that cover?

I really liked this issue, but then, I've recently been reading up on Reinessaince alchemy, so.... :p

And does Invisible Woman look like she's pregnant on that cover?

Yes. I also noticed this. It looks like she really needs to lay off the Snickers for a while.

In that case you have been watching way too much comic-art.

Hint: It's called a belly. Most women have them.
