Became the new Captain America?
Just kidding.
I was thinking in class tonight that if DC ever brings back Wally West, what does that mean for Bart as the Flash? If they bring back West as a different superhero, will people still like him? Honestly, I don't know if I would. How about all you Wally lovers out there? Would you like to see him as omone new, or just a different version of the Flash, like the Kingdom Come version or something?

Where the hell is Wally anyway?

He's currently stuck in an alternate reality... inside the Speed Force... inside of Bart. Along with Max Mercury, Barry Allen, Johnny Quick, Linda and the twins. At least, that's what I got out of that last run on the book. It's supposed to be cleared up in some annual sooner or later, but I haven't heard anything about it in months.

And then they subsequently had Max and Barry and Bart, all of which were in the Speed Force, join him. Okay, so I don't know where he went, but I know there was an alternate Jay there.

i don't think wally disapearing was just bad editorial move,
They have big plans for wally, if they were not going to use him again why not just have him die in Infinite crisis??
wally being away means something,

well didn't wally want to stay with his family for a bit anyway? they said he'll be back for the 08 thing, so no worries i'd say. he'll prob want to stay retired

One the one hand, I want an explanation of exactly where Wally is and what he is doing. But on the other hand, I am worried that the explanation will piss me off. Actually, considering how much I love Wally and how badly I want him back as the Flash, I think any explanation will piss me off...

To paraphrase Wildcat in the latest JSA: "There can be three Flashes."

Wally West, Ray Palmer and Scott Free are all laying back, relaxing and enjoying their retirement until the next big DC Universe shattering event :p
Lets hope Wally takes up the Scarlet Speedster mantle again (out of retirement) when that happens!

I actually kind of would like Wally to end up in the future for a bit, kind of like Barry did. It might pose a bit of continuity problems later, but it would be a nice touch. Maybe even have him join the Legion.

Wally has posed Britny Speers to get rid of her. So he never has to hear Toxic again. Thus K-Fed, Her saving her head (Cause he liked the woman from Star Trek the Movie.) and walking around with the bear feet in a public Restroom was Wally West's warped since of humor. Next Week Britny Will walk out in A Flash Costume. Rip off her wig and Yell. ,"I am Lex Luthor the greatest Criminal mind of all time!"
Then hold her/his arms up in the air and make a swooshing sound and pretend to be flying. Sorry I apologize to all Flash and Britny fans. I'm warped. I like intresting people . I just hope it's not a break down. And just taking TO MUCH IN LIFE. Hope she's ok. And just exentric. Not having life just crash down on her. Cause, it's bad when that happens. Any way he's either in the Speed Force or Gorila Gord made an Elaborate Mind trap that makes him think he's part of the speed force And Gord plans to use him to make a ton of clones that use Wally's connection to the speed force to make them move at super human speed To steel and cause minor problems that will build into situations that will let him concur Gorla city and destroy Wally's city at the same time.

I'm sure Wally will return, but I fear the character will suffer. He will almost certainly be older - probably in his 30s- and they will probably age his kids. A large part of Wally's charm was that he was a second generation hero done right who combined a certain maturity with youthful humor and energy. And he was the one former Teen Titan who actually went all the way in succeeding his mentor.
Upon his return, a lot of those aspects will probably all be gone and he won't be much different than the other 30-something characters. I'm not sure what they will do with Wally now that Bart has essentially taken over all of his former characteristics.

Wally is hiding out with the million bucks DC loses on this title in 2007.
Think about it, we're talking about a rebooted title that is already back down to the previous volume's sales numbers. If they had sustained even a fraction of the rebooted numbers for the entire first year, that would translate into hundreds of thousands of dollars. Over the course of a year or two, the book would have shed readers... but not at the rate it has shed them with Bart under the red mask.
Wally still had 40K readers when he crossed the 200 issue mark. Bart won't have 30K readers when he crosses the 20 issue mark without some massive changes.
Wally will return, eventually, but will end up being limited to around the speed of sound, much like Jay, leaving Bart as the fastest man alive and the main Flash. And his kids, presumably the new Tornado Twins (if they both become heroes) or the new Kid Flash (if it's only one), will be the same and end up in the Teen Titans or something.

I thought Buried Alien was going to be the new Cap.

I like Bart as the Flash, but the book wasn't that great. I was underwhelmed by the Griff and the art was touch and go. How is it now?

It's getting better, but Bart is still "Wally-lite", IMO. It was a really unnecessary change in my opinion.
