The issue begins with a scene between Mme (Sue) Hydra and her lover Wolverine. She calls him James instead of Logan, which made me a little bit upset. Then we assist to a fight between Sabretooth and this world's Captain America (who have a gas gun by the way, the bastard). Then this world's Slaymaster analysing this fight, with at his side... well see the pic above. Some talk between Bets & Creed about their mission. He reveals to her & Morph that they have to kill Reed. Bets say that she will do the necessary. Then a fight between on one side Blink & Morph and on the other side the Hand ninjas and our new hydra recruits (yep, them).
Very enjoyable fight. cool to read. lot of fun. You'll see. You don't want me to spoil everything, right?
Next scene we see Fury and Callisto. Wolverine distract them while Sue... yes. you guessed. Bye Nick & Call. T'was nice to know you (even if briefly).
Then a scene betwen Reed & his lover Electra. He tell her to leave because:
a)Sue & Wolvie are coming: thats the oportunity Red & his camp have been waiting for. "they'd never believe you'd abandon me to face them alone. Thats our edge" Reed talking. Don't ask me.
b)well you'll see by yourself
Electra leaves
Then Reed turn to a "shadow" and say "so psylocke are you here to choose sides or simply watch?"
Back to the fight enter Slaymaster
A good issue. Lot of fight, not enough words for me. We relly mostly on dialogue, i miss thought bubbles and thougths caption that would allow us to see the inside of the characters. But i guess some readers will preffer it this way.
Maybe I'll reread my review later, maybe even i'll add things.
For now thats all you get.
Later kids.

An alternate Earth’s existence hangs in the balance as Psylocke must face the brainwashed Exiles, who are now slaves of the Hand and on a deadly and destructive path. This world’s Sue Storm and Wolverine promise to make things worse.
I like the new story. The Hand and Hydra.
They have taken over the world and heroes are few and far between.
Captain America looks great in this issue. Even though Sabretooth knocks him out. I thought the fight was too short.
The villains are Wolverine, Spider-Man, Blink, Longshot, and Sue Storm (Madam Hydra)
I'm not sure about Mr. Fantastic.
Mr. Fantastic and Elektra seem to be working together against Hydra/The Hand. But Elektra says your wife and Wolverine are coming?
On the last page the Slaymaster appears. Whoever he is.
Did anyone else buy this?
On the last page the Slaymaster appears. Whoever he is.
He was one of Captain Britain's original villains years and years ago when Captain Britain was published by Marvel UK.
He's the guy who originally tore out Psylocke's eyes, who at the time was Captain Britain.

I disliked more in this issue than I liked. Save for most of the fight with Longshot, I disliked how Morph was written. I don't like how Psylocke is taking command of the situation. I thought the Sabretooth/Captain America fight wasn't clearly explained. I don't know why Psylocke is invisible at the end.
I do like the notion of Morph keeping the shield (it might not happen). I am intrigued by Psylocke's efforts to go against the Tallus, as the Exiles once tried to do so. I like what appears to be a blossoming friendship between Morph and Psylocke.

They were deleted by Cronin.
'Tis unfortunate my initial post was lost in the process.

It was okay. I wanted to see more of Callisto and Longshot. The action was fun, but the dialogue was getting to me again. It's aggravating. I think Slaymaster will be fun. I'm sure we'll see Sabretooth fight Wolverine, which has gotten a bit old, but whatever. I'm glad to see The Hand, and Hydra, but I wanted to see Matsuo Tsurayaba and/or Fenris. I hope next issue will be better.

This was a great issue. Art was nice and story is going real well.
Plot is simple which helps here, Psylocke's confusion over the task of the Exiles is a nice one as, to my knowledge, none of them have ever questioned that before.
This alternate realiy i am really liking and I'm enjoy Claremont's take on the book so far.

Hahahha.
Funny story.
So, as like many of you, I have tons of comics and trades around the house. My girlfriend reads quite a bit of my stuff, some by recommendation, and some because it's lying around. As I recently reread most of the Exiles series, I had them lying around and she read and enjoyed a lot of them (particularly Winnick's stuff, but a lot of Bedard's, too). I left a CC issue of Exiles in the bathroom, and she read it while it was in there. She came out and said to me, and I quote, "Exiles sucks now!"
Keep in mind, she is 100% uninvolved with comic politics, doesn't really know who CC is, and barely knows any of the creators. She just knows the books she likes.
I'm not trying to perpetuate "bashing" or insult the book; I just find it funny that someone with a 100% objective opinion noticed a marked difference in the book without following any of the online drama.
Personally, I'm enjoying CC's work so far, but I'm not thrilled with where I see it going. We'll see.

Hey, look, it's a Claremont story featuring mind-control.
Gosh, I'd never expected to see the like again...

I know you are not her but I dinf that odd.
If she has no knowledge of creators and such alike then just reading the books, there isn't much difference.
Artist is the same, Still a book about a bunch of alternate reality characters going from world to world saving them.
Back when i didn't take note of creators, I didn't even noticed Austen took over the book for a few issues (this or Uncanny X-men after Casey).

I've noticed a dip in quality, and I'm neutral toward Claremont. It is true that the artist is the same, but I don't think the art is the same. Clearly, the coloring is off in some areas.
The premise remains the same, but the focus is currently on Psylocke, who's not an alternate reality character. That's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just different.

Focus is on her sure, that's because she is new. Focus a few times has been on an entirely different team in this book. Sabretooth is still a very dominant part in the book.
And it's only 3 issues in give it time.
Oh she is an alternate reality character...for the characters, just not for us. :P

I know focus has been placed elsewhere in the past, but with three of the Exiles not being in the comic much since Psylocke's appearance and one missing from last issue (which isn't unusual for Heather), it doesn't quite seem like I'm reading about the Exiles.
I am willing to give it time, as I understand that this is pretty much just an arc for Claremont to adjust to things.

One hopes so. If this title turns into Psylocke & The Exiles, I shall be rather annoyed... but also sadly unsurprised.

Of course that is all I see the book as, I couldn't give a crap about Blink and crew. And this is exactly that, a book about a bunch of people trying to save a universe.
But yeah, is only 3 issues in.

Why would it? I'd prefer that then the Blink and the Exiles we've had for whatever number of Bedard's run.

Psylocke's only being the focus as she's a new character. Plus she's the easiest way to introduce the Exiles mission statement, the crystal palace, and all the other tech to new readers. From CC's recent interview, it sounds like she doesn't even go along with the Exiles on the next mission. Instead she stays in the Crystal Palace to monitor things and find out where Heather and the Bugs have vanished to.

uh, wasnt it that exiles originally came into existence because at that time blink was at the peak of her popularity and fans wanted her to appear in a monthly book?

As far as I knew it...it was that Marvel did a book called Millenium Visions and then decided to make a book about Alternate realities. That book is where Nocturne and others first appeared.
Myabe...I dunno.

There was only one other problem I had with the first half of the issue. That Sabretooth/Cap fight didn't make sense to me.

It's the easiest way when you have a new character on the team who needs information.

There is a difference in tone, character portrayals, dialect, character interaction, etc. You may not have noticed it, but it is there. She may not know specifically why it's different, and she didn't elaborate further, but she obviously noticed a difference between the older stuff (Winnick, Austen, Bedard) and now.
To be fair, the transition between Winnick and Austen was nearly transparent and is some of Austen's best stuff, and even the swap to Bedard was very close at first. IMO, it didn't get worse until just before and during World Tour.

Why would it?
Given CC's past record when presented with pet characters, it's more likely than not (X-Treme X-Men, for instance, was essentially a Storm series with some bumbling sidekicks thrown in for good measure).
And frankly, that'd be a bad thing.

lol. This is so true. I'm suprised Sage isn't the star of every book. With her around there isn't a need for anyone else.

See, that i find odd as while i can see how he picks 'favourites' as such, very little does it ever turn into a one character book with sidekicks. Claremont is able to write team books well and while might (like you probably would too) use one character as a story teller as such, he also does stories that focus on all his characters he has in his control.

Well, of course at the very basic, superficial level, it fits the two-line summary of Exiles. However, the effect is all in the delivery and execution. The tone is different, it's narrated in the first-person by Psylocke as opposed to the third-person omniscient narrator we've had in the preceding 89 issues, the dialogue, jargon and lingo are different, there is much more slapstick, characterization and interaction feels off...
It's just different.
Psylocke's only being the focus as she's a new character. Plus she's the easiest way to introduce the Exiles mission statement, the crystal palace, and all the other tech to new readers. How is she the easiest way to introduce the Exiles MO to new readers? Sure, someone could explain it to her, but there's no need to tell the entire arc through her eyes, as it does place the majority of emphasis on her.
