Dunno if this has been brought up or not, but...
If Batman is the "World's Greatest Detective", wouldn't those who taught him, technically, be better than him ?
Or is it the aspect of "apprentice mastering the master" ?

i'm not quite sure, but didn't he learn from different masters ?
so this way he would have the knowledge from all of them combined.

People often surpass their teachers. Otherwise we'dd all be on a hell of a downwards spiral

You know what, I never asked myself "how did batman become a detective" and now I can't stop thinking about it lol.

I think Devecho [?] the great painter was young Davinci's master. The master was doing a painting of the madona and child and he had his pupil [davinci] do one of the angels. When he saw what his pupil created it was said he never painted again.
I believe in the Tora it is written, "First you find yourself a teacher!"
So I guess batman would search the world looking for his teachers and if they were great he would supass them.

yea, I kinda figured he surpassed his teachers, but I always wondered what would happen if ALL of his teachers (especially the martial arts) got together for a sparring match.... them VS Batman

Batman should of been able to surpase most of his masters. He has the benifit of constant on the job training and practice.

It's not like he learned his detective skill from one dude anyway. He was top of the class in the FBI training program. He learned a lot of basic detecting from them. Only after that he learned specific stuff from specific people, like tracking people down from Ducard.

Didnt Batman and Sherlock Holmes have a crossover and Batman admitting that Sherlock was better than him?

Of course he can surpass the masters and teachers. He can combine tactics, invent new ones and refine old ones to make them better.

Yeah but where is Sherlock Holmes now?
Dead, that's where. Which now makes Batman the world's greatest detective.
I always figured that it was Batman's ability to take all the stuff he learned from all these different people and put it altogether that made him the world's greatest detective.

No doubt that Grant Morrison would like to utilize said character. Because that's what Grant Morrison does.....
