Marvel Universe Online is the working title of an MMO game developed by Cryptic Studios and published by Microsoft Game Studios exclusively for Microsoft Windows Vista and Xbox 360 platforms.[1] It is said to revolve around the characters of the Marvel Comics Universe. A recent IGN article stated that Marvel Universe Online would take history from 60 years of Marvel Comics as well as integrate current events in the comic books for the next five to ten years.[2]

A teaser trailer has been released to promote the game, showing off statue-like images of various Marvel characters, but without any shown game-play footage.

The only visible characters in the trailer are Apocalypse, Cable, Captain America, Cyclops, Daredevil, Doctor Doom, Doctor Octopus, Nick Fury, Galactus, the Hulk, Magneto, Nightcrawler, the Punisher, Quicksilver, a Sentinel, Spider-Man, the Thing, Uatu and Wolverine.
Man, I hope Quicksilver is a playable characters, along with Nightcrawler and Spiderman. That would be a kick ass team!

Man, I hope Quicksilver is a playable characters, along with Nightcrawler and Spiderman. That would be a kick ass team!

Wow that is awesome, I remember hearing rumors about Marvel and DC's plan to make an MMO. I can't wait to see how it's going to look and how the game play and how characters are going to be.

No, in the article it says that the developers haven't solved that problem yet. If we can make custom chars, what's stopping someone from playing as Superman?

Yeah or some bastardized version of Cap or Spidey (which everyone know's there will be).

I seriously hope you can play as the Marvel characters because of 2 main reasons.
1) People play a game to have fun, people play a Marvel game to be the Marvel characters and have even more fun.
2) If you have to create your own character and can't be a Marvel hero, then this game will really just be a CoH and CoV nockoff being made by the same developers and the game play will probably feel just the same but be "marvel themed" so game play will still get as boring and repetitive as it does in CoH, but will probably take longer for the Marvel fans to get bored with it. I'm affraid that this could turn out to be "CoH2" and that makes me sad.

The same thing that stopped people from making the Hulk and Spider-Man in City of Heroes.

So I would like the option of making my own character and every once awhile playing as spider-man or silver surfer.

It's an MMO. They aren't going to let 3 million people be wolverine

They said that would be an option to limit the number of Spider-Mans, Wolverines, Hulks and Caps running around, but it isn't an option they're really considering. They said if anything there would be a large amount of one character and only about 2 people playing someone like Jubilee. But I think with all the different costumes these characters have had over the years (and maybe even give some artists a chance to make their own version of a costume specificaly for the game) it wouldn't be that much of a problem having a bunch of one character running around cause not everyone will want to play Spider-Man in his regular costume.

I'm just worried that it's going to be more like CoH part 2, and not a Marvel game. But it's really too early to be talking about it cause it'll probably come out in 09 or 2010.
