I was hunting for this trade on Amazon and found that only out of print used copies are available.

Does anyone know if Marvel is "remastering" the black costume saga in time for Spider-Man 3? Seems to me this would have been a great idea.

Two or three trades could've easily contained Spidey getting the costume to the birth and first defeat of Venom. Further Venom stories could be put in a different set of trades.

^ I bought that trade last week. I'm not up to the McFarlane issues yet but it's decent so far

Does it have the entire black costume saga?

Awesome! How much did it set you back? The twenty bucks mentioned above or the thirty that Marvel.com mentions?

I didn't buy through Amazon and paid full price instead. I was really anxious for Venom for some reason

Technically it doesn't, although it had the key issues of the Alien Costume saga.

It has the eight issues of Amazing Spider-Man contained in the Saga of the Alien Costume TPB, the entire contents of the Spider-Man VS Venom TPB, and a few more goodies (ie- Web of SPider-Man #1 with a crucial Alien costume plot.)

I highly recommend it for newer fans, and given the page/dollar ratio, it's actually a decent deal.

It was closer to $30 at my LCS. I have yet to pick this up though, but it'd be a great addition to my collection.

Hmm...I'm not a new fan by any stretch of the imagination. But I didn't catch all of the original black costume issues when they were originally released.

And I have the Spidey vs. Venom trade...so I wonder if I need this...though it would be nice to have it all in one package.

Re-reading through those old issues in the Birth of Venom trade now, great stuff.
