Looking at the preview art in the new Nova series, it hit me. Nova's new suit looks more like a science fiction, space cop uniform as opposed to a super hero outfit. His old uniform looks more like a super hero out fit.
I actually like the new science fiction look. When I first saw the design with the three "light disk" on his torso, I thought "Well, that makes since. He's in the darkness of space. He needs light." Now I know (or believe) they are venting ports to help vent his newly added power.
I like the new uni. Just have to watch the crazyness with the helmet. Anyone hear of a new statue or bust with this design?

I think it depends. Sometimes it looks really good. Other times not very good at all. There's some clunkiness to it at times, and how the scene handles that really determines it for me.

The new costume has grown on me a little, but I still much prefer the original.
It's those damned ugly spikes. They just look so ridiculous.

Although the original is, and will always be, considered the best because of its simplistic sleek retro design I do like the current armor version though agree if the spikes were slightly reduced it would help make it more acceptable. But I think it depends on who's drawing it. So far out of Sean Chen, Andrea Divito and Kev Walker..Andrea's version is the best rendered but I can't fault either Walker or Chen becuase they're great artists in their own right..though Chen does need to streamline his rendition of the helmet a bit. Anyway below is a drawing I did of a sort of "half-way" comprimise between the classic and the current version. Maybe other artists here during the Conquest run can devise alternate Nova costumes, or of other characters who appear in Conquest.

Randy Bowen of Bowen Designs mentioned at Wizard World LA that Nova
will be done as a full-size statue in both the classic original and the
Annihilation uniform sometime after 2008
And thanx to Doug for sharing this info with us!!! :)
Nova is also going to made in the Marvel Figurine Collection produced by Eaglemoss - these are lead figurines that stand about 4" tall and are beautifully detailed...

It's the Iron Man effect. Everyone's costumes got bulked up and given layers and dimensions, so they aren't just wearing really tight pants. Kind of similar to the Cable effect from the 90s, where everyone got pockets. Captain America went through it too, when Cassaday was drawing the book. The mask became leathery and thick, instead of painted on, the armor became more defined, instead of just drawing on little fish scales, and he got the web belt.
