I just got back from Wal-Mart and they are in the process of putting out all of the new Hasbro Spider_man 3 toys. This includes the basic line of figures (which are now smaller than the MLs), classic Spider-Man characters, the new line of Superhero Squad 2-packs, and the Mr Potato Head Spider Spud. I think there were also some Legos, little hotwheels cars, and something called the Spy-Dog (which cost $33!).

I bought the movie Venom figure today, keeping it in the box, since they are movie figs. I like the Black Spidey & Sandman. I'll have to go back and get them.

Does it bother anyone else that Hasbro knocked one out of the park with the "Ghost Rider" toys at the traditional six inches, with superb articulation and sculpting, and then produced these five-inch jokes?
I'm just dumbfounded. Hasbro will soon be releasing six-inch FF2 figures, yet their Spider-Man 3 line will be out of scale with it and the GR line.
It would have been very cool to have all of these Marvel Movieverse figures in scale. Kids would have loved to be able to have Ghost Rider, Spidey, and The Thing team up against Blackheart, Venom, and (presumably) Galactus or Silver Surfer.
Now this won't be possible. Not to mention the six-inch X-Men figures from past films, the Blade figure, the Daredevil figure, the previous SM films, and the Marvel Legends X-Men 3 figures, all in six inches.
It's just downright stupid.

Hasbro's already explained their reasoning for going to 5" for movie lines. Due to market reaserch, Kids prefer the slightly smaler scale. Not to mention Hasbro wanted to include action features and such, which their research says that kids enjoy. You also seem to think that kids care about scale.
As for the Fantastic Four 2 line, it's 5" as well. Hasbro went with 5" for them so they could release an affordable Fantasticar. Future figure lines will be decided on a case by case basis. But Hasbro considers the 5" scale the official movie scale from here on out. With some exceptions. Like the X3 figures.
As I've said before, the change in scale doesn't bug me at all. I have various scales in my figure collection and they look fine. 12" Marvel Legends Icons, 7" horror movie figures, 6" Marvel Legends, 3 3/4" Star Wars figures. 2" Superhero Squad figures. As welll as a few other random differently scaled figures.

Hasbro is obviously making these toys for KIDS again. How long has it been since you've squeezed the legs of figure for an action feature? I haven't picked up these figs and probably won't, but if I were a kid, I'd be THRILLED that the FIRST wave offers a whopping EIGHT villains! And some of the Spidey variants actually makes sense. Bottom line is, I'm not too pleased with what may come from Hasbro in the future, 'cause chances are things'll be harder to find with kids buying toys again.

Toys? For kids?! The horror!!
I can't stand the way they divide torsos these days... makes the figures look so goofy.

Toys R Us has a couple of different Superhero Squads on their website. I just ordered them this morning. They are Spider-Man/Doc Ock and Spider-Man/Rhino.
They also have two exclusive MLs on there. A silver anni. Wolverine and a Diamond Form Emma Frost.

I may start collecting these figs. I love the smaller figures, they take up less space, and they just look cooler in my opinion. I like the Spidey & Venom set.

The scale thing sucks. I've been thinking about selling my old Marvel Legends since Hasbro took over, and I think this pushed me over the edge.
Maybe I'll finally get into Mini-Mates. . .

i saw a bunch of new toys at walmart last night. i was with my girlfriend, who is excited about the movie, but she didn't know who venom was... so i explained in full detail how exactly he got his powers and of the symbiote suit, and of sandman, and of hob goblin type things... it was a big ten minute thing of me using action figures to describe everything. in the end i was called a nerd and she made fun of me for the rest of the night.

Just so I understand your reasoning, why does Hasbro changing the scale on the new movie toys (not even the MLs mind you) cause you to have a desire to sell your old Legends? Do the new toys not validate even owning old ones for you?

Who doesn't love the new Rhino figure? I like the fact that his new suit isn't too complicated or bulky.
If you don't like it, then you are a communist.
The Harry Figure is also pretty sweet. Now...if only the Goblin didn't look like a deformed Power Ranger...I mean seriously, at least give him a purple cloak.

I like the Rhino figure, but the Doc Ock just looks messed up to me. The Venom fig is also pretty darn sweet, I picked it up last night. I'll have to get the other ones.

The movie figures look pretty good though I am a little dissapointed to head thaat they are only 5 inch figures. I am thinking about getting some of the Spider-Man Origins figures which look amazing!

The Spider-man Origins figures are pretty cool. I have the Venom, Doc Ock, and Iron Spider ones and they are all awesome! Plus they come with display stands, which all figures should have.

Like several of you, I was hugely disappointed to see that the figures were not in scale with Marvel Legends and the previous Spider-Man film figures. I understand that Hasbro has very good reasons for making the figures 5-inches (after all, the target demographic for these figures are children, and this is apparently what they prefer), but it would have been nice if Hasbro could have released a concurrent ML-sized "collecter's line."
After getting over the initial disappointment, however, I am fairly impressed with the line. As someone else mentioned, the assortment features a mind-boggling number of villains, all presented in a more "realistic" cinematic style. I've picked up all of them except Rhino (didn't have the money at the time) and Scorpion (will pick him up eventually, but I not crazy about his design), and I've thus far been very pleased. The Lizard, in particular, is incredible. His look remains true to the comic book version, yet he looks like he's stepped right off the screen. I wish that his tail could be straighted out, but as far as action features go, it's relatively unobtrusive. I also dig Kraven's updated look. He's got the best action feature (the arm-motion looks good both with the whip and the machete), but he suffers somewhat from his awkward leg sculpt. Overall, the line's really grown on me, and I imagine kid's love it.

So far I have Venom, and I got the Green Goblin 2 days ago, the first GG, next I have to get Harry's Goblin figure, and I really wanted that special edition black Spider-man but they're all sold out, so I'll get the regular version which I finally found without the sand all over him, I need a red and blue also.
I'm not that interested in Sandman, but I still might get him, I'm just really happy that he's wearing exactly what he wears in the comics.

I forgot I even posted in this thread,
Basically, I look at the Marvel figures as one in-scale line, whatever the spearate lines might be called. I like my movie figures mixed with my comic figures.
The lines being out of scale is pretty much the last straw for Hasbro, since I think the new MLs and Origins look terrible and they cost more.
This doesn't invalidate my old figures, but I bought them with the idea of having a massive, ongoing line of Marvel characters. Now that that's pretty much over for me I'm happy to just dump the figures off and start over with a line more to my liking, such as the Mini-Mates I mentioned.
I'm not really complaining or anything (and in fact I'd prefer a 5-inch line altogether, though my favorite size is 3 3/4), I've just kind of lost interest now, seeing how things are turning out.

So will I. Love the line. Wish they would have done one of the Spidey's as Black Costume though.
Given the only Black Costume one we have is in a crawling pose. :p
