Smokers phone hold cigarettes inside

This is probably the most ridiculous product to come out of China in some time. (((Oh come on, knock it off with the editorializing; compared to the exhaust fumes in major Chinese cities, cigarettes smoke is a health tonic)))) The Smokers Phone looks like a cigarette packet but is in fact a real working mobile phone complete with a handy compartment inside to keep your cigarettes safe.

With the official government warning stickers this handset looks exactly the same as a real cigarette packet and includes a microSD card slot, MP3 player, colour screen and VGA camera. (((At last, the Warren Ellis wonder-phone, though it ought to also feature a cane and a can of Red Bull.)))

According to Boing Boing (http://www.boingboing.net/2007/03/23/phone_built_into_cig.html), the cost for the phone (including cigarettes) is $175US.

Given the cell phone specs in Asia, I'm willing to bet that that mobile's camera is at least 8 megapixels.

Quite possibly more than 10.

American mobile phones? Something like 1.3 megapixels, maybe. I forget.

It still cracks me up when Ellis rants about drinking Red Bull like it's some hardcore narcotic.

Maybe it's code for something else?

Red Bull is okay, but it's not my caffeinated beverage of choice.

I'm Dr. Pepper's bitch.

I don't smoke, but even I can't pass a deal like that!

I wonder what you'd have to do to get that phone to work on an American cell phone service?

Blow the head of Verizon/Sprint/T-Mobile/whatever.

But god, that would be an awesome phone to have.

On a bit of a tangent, here's the mobile phone I'd enjoy owning/using:

Samsung's SCH-B600. Available only in Korea (and released last October).

A 10 megapixel cameraphone.

It looks like it wants to drill your ear canal for oil.

In comparison with that beauty, the American Razr looks like a cheap toy.

Why in the name of god would they release something that beautiful in korea?

That is a very good question.

But the Asian cell phone market is way ahead of the US market.

Because their electronics innovation is superior to the US.

Also, I hate to break this to you: Asia now leads the market in early adoption for consumer electronics. They love their gadgets and re crazy for the newest ones.

Am I the only one to notice the one thing that phone is missing?

A lighter.

edit: Checking the second link, it does come with a separate lighter as part of a set. But if it's designed with everything else built in, having a separate lighter is disappointing.

A lighter.

Too dangerous.

The heat could frag the electronics.
