Did anyone else not like this? I just found batman in the future a bit annoying, and a bit cocky, I haven't seen it in years so maybe its the fights or the writing thats a precursor to the genius justice laeague series, but I don't like the idea of anyone determining Jokers final fate. ANyone agree? Or why is it good?

It wasn't my thing, either. The idea just never clicked with me.

I couldn't agree more. I'm sure it had good story and good action, but I love current continuity too much to follow a hypothetical Batman of the future story. I look at it as an elseworlds.

I loved it. It was my favorite Animated DC show, until Justice League came along.

That show was the greatest expensive of the DC Universe.

If there was ever a person to properly replace and hold the mantle of the batman then Terry McGuiness gets my vote. Don't know about the whole revelation of carrying bruce's dna..but whatever. Terry is cool as hell and I loved that show when it was aired. That one and the regular Batman series were my number ones back in the day and I wish both would've continued on for some more years. But oh well I'll take the dvds anyday to take me back to those hey days. Anywhos just expressing my thoughts.

I actually thought it was a pretty damn good show. Return of The Joker was just amazing, especially.

I thought it was really good. For some reason like half of my favorite Batman stories are about him when he's really old: Beyond, DKR and his appearances in Kingdom Come.

Agreed. I've seen Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker more times than I can count. I don't mind so much that none of it's in comics continuity. BB just proves to me that the canon DC stories aren't what makes the DCAU great.

As far as determining the Joker's final fate, well, Justice League takes place before the events of RotJ, so there are still plenty of Joker stories to tell on DTV and whatnot. I don't think the DCAU would have any sense of closure if Batman's greatest villain were still running around after all of the series closed shop. I thought it was a nice cap.

I really liked this show. The first season was kind of slow but after that I thought the episodes were pretty good, and of course The Return of the Joker was great in that it showed us a clear connection to the past.

It was incredible. And I really appreciated how the crew incorporated the last season of JLU (i.e. Amanda Waller) into the definitive finale of Batman Beyond. Dini and Timm were really good at taking a series of ideas from both Batman, Superman, and Batman Beyond and carrying them through in JLU.

In the context of the animated series, Batman Beyond is official continuity as far as I know. In "The Once and Future Thing," however, I suppose there was room for an Elseworlds approach since Batman argued that history had become fluid. Still, it seems clear that to Dini and crew Batman Beyond is the future. My only complaint is that Superman was kind of cold in that future--but that could just be the Starro thing. Still, I guess Superman would become a little more distant after everyone he loved died and he was confronted with the problem of his own immortality. Would have liked to have seen him after he defeated Starro's influence.

I loved that show. Terry was a good replacement and Old Bruce = best Bruce
