Last month I was picking my usual DC stuff and was about to leave until I happen to glance at the Marvel rack. I stopped collecting Marvel during the so-called "circulation wars" and have not looked back. But upon seeing the Punisher in his old b&w costume, I guess you can say something was rekindled.
I bought the issue in question (I think it was a Civil War crossover. I dont remember. I'm in upstate NY visiting my gf so I dont have the issue at hand) and I must admit, I liked it. It's nice to see the Punisher back in the regular Marvel Universe.
Naturally my interest about the Civil War storyline has piqued my interest. Someone at my comic store overheard me talking to the owner and she said that Marvel will put out trade collections of all the Civil War crossovers. I would believe her but she was an otaku and I've a strong dislike of current anime fans.
What she said about Marvel release TPB's of the Civil War... is this true?

Marvel puts everything in trade form these days. They dont care what book it all ends in a trade.I recommend the marvel adventures all ages digest.

Some Civil War trades are already out in hardcover format. I do know there is a softcover "Road to Civil War" that is out that sets up everything. The actual Civil War story comes out in Hardcover within the next three weeks according to my list.

"Road to Civil War" is out and "Civil War" with all the tie ins will be out in less than a month, including Punisher's tie ins, which are great.
And "Marvel Adventures" digests aren't that great. Go for Civil War definitely.

some other trades you should pick up (other than the Civil War) are Sentry (vol.1 for sure), Toxin, Venom/Carnage, Ultimate Spider-Man the venom saga, Secret Wars (old school), Beyond! and...that's all I can think of right now.

Thanks but no. I'll stick to the Civil War trades only. Aside from that, I got no interest in any marvel during and after the mid 90s :);) :D

Aside from the main CW trade, the only other trades of real importance are, IMO:
-Amazing Spider-Man: Civil War
-Fantastic Four: Civil War
New Avengers, Punisher and the two Frontline trades are also big, thoughn ot as big. (But be warned, 2/3 of the FF one is pretty bad. Still, the last two issues MORE than make up for it.)

Punisher War Journals have been pertty good so far, I have a feeling Frank Castle is in for a major push as well. Not to mention I think June will be a very good month for the world of marvel.
Overall nothing major will happen over the next couple months though, it's just going to all be a buildup to world war hulk from this point on.

Pick up the "Captain America: Winter Soldier" trades. You won't regret it. And actually, pretty critical for understanding... er, some stuff that just happened. You might have missed it if you were vacationing off-planet or something.
Pax.

Having recently given up on Marvel after about 2 decades and begun reading DC (by buying about 250 bucks worth of trade papers) I'd suggest you read as little as possible. Civil War is the same sort of "what is heroism?" discussion held in DC in OMAC, Indentity Crisis, and Infinite Crisis. Except the DC stuff I've read so far is worlds better.
