If you've just been appointed to the ministry to replace a guy who was sacked for failing to disclose all his investments, you really should make sure you disclose all your investments:

Federal Government frontbencher Brett Mason has told the Senate he made an honest error by not declaring managed fund investments.

It has been revealed Senator Mason held investments in four managed funds without declaring them on the Senate register.

He was promoted to the frontbench after former minister for ageing, Santo Santoro, resigned for failing to declare extensive share trading.

Senator Mason addressed the Senate this afternoon and said his oversight was an honest mistake.

It sounds better than "Minister for buying pensioner votes".
