While at the conventions I do a lot of sketches that don't see print anywhere! They are drawn on the spot and whisked away to a private collection. I love it that these pieces are given a loving home, but they also need to be shared and enjoyed by everyone!
THAT'S WHAT THIS POST IS ALL ABOUT!
Every two weeks I"ll update the link below to display a different convention drawing! If you have one of my convention sketches, or even a full blown commission, send me a scan and I'll be sure share!

Ah.. yes... Wizard Los Angeles was certainly a great time this past weekend! There were some really nice pieces made.. A creepy Spider-man ( that I'm planning on coloring and presenting at a later date!) ..a nice Donna Troy and good ol' Dr. Fate! Dr. Fate is one of the greats from the goldenage that somehow everyone knows about, but no one really knows what to do with in the post crisis universe. I've always enjoyed drawing this character... the helmet is one of the coolest images in comics. At a convention where everyone wants drawings of Batman, or a sexy girl, or a sexy girl with Batman, it's nice to know that there are folks out there who want a classic like Dr. Fate.. (By the way.. im embarrassed to say.. But doesn't anyone know DR Fate's alter ego, that is, do you REALLY KNOW IT..? Sure, I can go look it up on the internet, but that's not what I'm asking! ...
.. anyone just happen to know!?)

Best... DR. Fate... EVER! Stuart, superb job, man. I know what you mean about the Batman and women sketches at cons (not from personal experience, but from seeing so many Batman and women sketches on the internet). The problem is that they're so obvious to ask for. I know that when I go to a con, and I finally get to an artist I want a sketch/commission of, I grasp at characters to draw, because I can't really think of them. Sure, on any other day, I'll know who some random, obscure (or not-so-mainstream) characters are, but in the moment, I'll forget everything I know about comics, and blurt out "Batman!" I want a Batman sketch! Or Wolverine... Shortly following the incident, I'll look to the ground and say "shit... another Batman sketch... goddamnit" Not that I mind having the sketches, it's just the fact that I enjoy a good variety of characters, like anybody else. ;P

Hey Stuart, that is an incredible rendition of Dr. Fate. I have wanted to see your version of the good doctor for a while now but when given the chance I can't resist getting a Deadman or Creeper from you. Believe it or not but next time I got the chance to see you at a show I was going to ask for a Dr. Fate or Mister Miracle. As much as I love Mister Miracle, I think the Doctor will be the next piece to go on the wall. On a related topic, I need to email you about the Deadman commission from San Diego.

I happen to have that sketch of Doctor Fate in my living room right now.
How long did it take you to draw it, cause it didn't get to me until months after my birthday. ;)
