Well another great issue begins with Wade still at Ant man proportions, doing his intro page playing cards with Weasel with a nice Dc reference when it comes to Agent-X.
The actual issue really starts with Agent-X fighting the "Hollerin' Hords" of Hydra, whilst on a mission to retrive a genetic manipulator.....needles to say it goes wrong. On a side note like the use of yellow writing paper for alex's thoughts instead of Wade's solid boxes.
Cut to Wade n Weasel being asked by Outlaw and Sandi to rescue Alex (is this the same girl who appeared in xmen post house of M cos she seemed young then and older again now.) all i will say is Wade has a good reason to accept the job.
Wade n weasel go to the hydra base where Wade makes his way inside and we meet the REAL star of this issue BOB: Agent of Hydra.
Wade gets him to help and they make their way to find Alex who has bee SPOILER:Made obeseSPOILER ENDS.
Eventually they make their way out etc etc etc...
But then the cliffhanger has the re-appearance of someone who should by all right signal the collecting of Deadpools first series cos unless you read them you wont know who it is!

CABLE & DEADPOOL #38
What’s happening to Cable? The mummudrai—a parasitic life form—has been set loose on Providence. Now, Cable’s vision for a perfect society is thrown into chaos when he must fight to save his territory—and his own mind—from this new predator.
So regardless of what the solicit teases, nothing about Cable and the Mummudrai?

Spoil away. I don't read the book. I just didn't want to miss any tie-in stuff with X-Men.

The villain is the evil and despicable T-Ray! Deadpool fans rejoice!!!
This is one of best issues I've read in 2007! The whole fkn issue was hilarious from the recap page to the end. The dialogue was unbelievable, and Bob the Hyrda-guy was one of the funniest introductions I've read in a long time! I hope he sticks around as Deadpool's friend! LOLZ.
Plus, it was nice to see Outlaw and Sandi again and tiny Deadpool's comment about the "four-friends" as he looks up at their *ahem* chests...LOL. :p
Unbelievable.
I thank the comic-book gods this book exists and every few issues or so I get to laugh my ass off and feel good about the world at the same time.
Just read it and you'll understand why.
God bless Fabian Nicieza!:)

Even though Agent X is a great character in himself I felt this was kind of a natural progression into knocking him down a few pegs so Deadpool could be back on top. The future looks bright for this and the issue was hilarious. Perhaps we can see a new Cable and Deadpool title back in the works and just restart each one from the current numbering. Bob from Hydra was great and this felt like classic Deadpool.

Does this being Deadpool-centric mean that the Cable-centeric arc was cancelled? Because I'm going to need at least two good reasons to read this book if Deadpool isn't in it.

To cut and paste from another site:
>>There were some changes to the X-plans which necessitated some changes to our schedule.
CDP #38 on sale now is the Deadpool-centric Agent X issue.
CDP #39 is a Deadpool-centric conclusion to "Unfinished Business" with a great guest-art job by Ron Lim.
CDP #40-42 are tied in to events in X-MEN #198-200.
#40 is pretty much Cable, though Deadpool does make an appearance in Cable's dreams. Well... not like that.
#41-42 will reunite CABLE & DP.
#43... well... it'll be a surprise...
And for those who have understandably bemoaned Deadpool's lack of direction -- well, yes, it was purposeful, though I know it was annoying... you'll be happy to know by the end of #38 (did I mention it's on sale now) and into the foreseeable future, he will have a very clear, distinct status quo.

Fabian, is Bob the Hydra-guy going to be a mainstay in the book as Deadpool's ally now?:)
And I think having DP in charge of Agency X is just what the doctor ordered! (Just make sure Bob is there!);)

Bob will remain a part of DP's supporting cast as long as DP continues to enjoy shooting, stabbing or kicking him -- or until he gets his own Limited Series.
DP is not running Agency X, he is working for Alex Hayden, who still owns the agency, but can't go on field missions on account of his... condition.
Any questions regarding continuity, such as Outlaw's status during HoM or Civil War or Infinite Crisis, all I can say is to forgive my ignorance, English is my second language...

Why not use the smileys since they're there? :o It would clear up the confusion a bit. :p
I liked the issue, I think it was a parody of sorts of the situation that happened in X-men #196, ya know, with giving random viruses to people? Except put Alex Hayden in the position of Rogue, and it's a ray instead of needles.
I wonder how Agent X is going to get himself out of this one? Even if he does get lipo or whatever to counteract the obesity, there's still the debilitating arthritis to deal with.
Bob the AIM agent is hilarious, glad to hear that he's going to become a recurring character. If there's a series for "The Irredeemable Ant Man", why can't there be a series for "Bob the AIM Agent"? =D
Deadpool temporarily running the agency is going to be quite the sight to see. Can't wait to see what happens with that, and how will Weasel get home? XD
I wonder if any of Rogue's team will be seen in the Providence/Hecatomb issues, I like Bachalo's art, but it'd be fun to see a different take on the characters. =D

From the unofficial thread:
This one of my favorite issues yet. Brown's pencils are really growing on me. Nicieza's got the hybrid handle on DP. Everything from his own original stuff on X-Force and the miniseries, to Kelly to Priest to Simone. Fantastic stuff.
Agent X is still hilarious after all this time. I hope they find some way to reverse the critically debilitating arthritis and morbid obesity.
And freaking T-Ray! I'm so glad he's back. This makes having the entire DP series like three times more worthwhile.
Best line: "Four reasons for me to help you." It's a context joke, and it is hi-larious.
Fabian, I gotta say, I've followed your stuff since I was one year old (Well, kinda sorta. I picked up loads of the early X-Force issues as a kid) and it's just been fantastic. Adjectiveless X-Men, X-Force, the DP mini, Cable & DP of course, and three of the greatest X-crossovers ever.
You've just got a great handle on all the characters you write. But I've gotta ask, who's your favorite? [Besides Deadpool, since I know it's him!]

For some reason, this is what I thought I was getting. I don't usually buy "comical" comic books. Anyway, it wasn't too awful.:p
It occurs to me that the best way to do Deadpool might be in a Vertigo-like/Heavy Metal-ish "adults only" line. That way we can stop the teasing, and finally get to see Outlaw's breasts, which have only been showcased since, like the character got introduced? I'll be there for that.
Fabian, if you're still out there, here's my question/request: I do miss Copycat. She's survived dying by "duplicating" healing factors in the past. Couldn't she have copied Sabertooth's or Deadpool's before truly expiring?
Peace,
Syzygy

See, I knew Alex wasn't as funny as Wade. Here's proof - the characters think the same thing.
And T-Ray! It's funny, most writers who, when they come back to a character they created, have a tendency to ignore everything that every other writer does to them. Jim Starlin with Thanos, for instance. And yet FabNic actually celebrates other writers' contributions to the character's mythos. That is so awesome.

Meh. Truth is, I hated all the Agent X stuff. Consider it a blight on the character's history. I cheered when Wade was writing things in Alex's entrails.
But it's cool you use them anyways. And even cooler, T-Ray. If only there was more Blind Al.

I enjoyed writing Blind Al and thought I handled her properly, so the chances of her returning are good (it's a tricky thing feeling comfortable with the voice of a character so identified by the skill of a different writer).
That said, DP's supporting cast is suddenly full, what with Fat Alex, Outlaw, Sandi and Bob, Agent of Hydra being a steady part of the new status quo.
And eventually, they'll have to try and rescue Weasel, too. Maybe...

Edit: Though I'd be happy if Alex lost the weight quickly. Especially if Deadpool "cured" him by occasionally carving him up with his swords.

Oh, don't know if there are any plans or not, but I'd love to see Mr. Sinister show up again at some point. I picked up my first issue of Deadpool (Cable who?) as a Civil War crossover and was instantly hooked due to Deadpool's malfunctioning dialogue against the GLA. I've been hooked ever since.
This book is over the top silly but its fun and the latest issue was no exception. The last time a comic felt fun to me was over 20 years ago. Deadpool has pretty much become the only comic I can count on month to month to be a consistent enjoyment.

There's a preview of Cable/Deadpool #39 up here at CBR (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=10153).
Looks pretty good so far- the art team seems to have gotten a sort of Ed McGuinness meets Ron Lim look- which is great, as I enjoy the heck out of both of those guys.
Hoping that Fabian is able to get T-Ray back to bad mo-fo status (from the artwork it looks like it). T-Ray's last outing in DP didn't fare too well, with all that nonsensical "he's not really Wade Wilson" stuff that Tieri and Scalera threw in in "Funeral for a Freak".
[EDIT- Egg on my face here. The solicit on that link is wrong- it's actually for C/DP #38, not 39, and the art is Lim, not this Reilly Brown dude.]
