How about the never explored Nocturne and cAptain Britain. Claremont had then getting chummy for all of 15 minutes - which is often all it takers to create a long term affair in that kind of continuity...:eek:

Well, he's never been drawn with wrinkles that I've seen. (EDIT: Even in J2, which takes place in teh MC2 timeline some 15-20 years in the future, Ron Lim drew Cain as looking to be middle-aged instead of elderly when he was finally rescued from the dimension he'd been trapped in.) He's the same age as Xavier more or less, but I think that makes him closer to 50 or 60 tops.

Well with the Professor, Cain and Mags they all have excuses as to why they are still walking around and not in nursing homes. Those three have backgrounds that are explicitly tied to certain events. The Holocaust for Magneto and The Korean War for Chuck and Cain.

Claremont wrote her excellently, he wasn't allowed to finish writing the recovery story. It was unfinished because they took the book away and he had to rapidly tie up loose ends.

Nocturne is my fave female character, I even have a lot of the New Excalibur original art pages, the two big splashes from #8 set me back a bit, but they were so worth it.

I hope with the multiverse in upheaval TJ gets shunted back to the New Exiles or to 616 again. She was too cool a character to just wave goodbye to.

I am glad Claremont's Exiles is finishing and that a new one is beginning! The new one will have Polaris and Blink so I am very excited. I hope Nocturne appears later on as well, would love to see her fighting alongside Blink! As for CC writing Nocturne, bad idea obviously. Do u know how he underused Dazzler and Polaris during his first run? It was horrible, and yes, w/o Nocturne, sells will go down in any book! :wink:

Anyhow, the stroke, while plausible, was a slap in the face in my opinion. I seriously think they could do wonders with her with the correct writer...who? Shit I dunno, I'm not too picky. Someone who starts writing her because they like the character. I would lvoe to see more good thigns and bad things happen to her. Many would argue she has had enough bad...life means pain sometimes, it's intersting to read.

I kniow plenty of girls who call their father daddy after age 18, it's usually in mockery or to try and swindle them out of money or favors.

Why would Nightcrawler encoruage it? Put yourself in his shoes. A smokin hot blue girl shows up in your dimension. She has no past here and you know nothing about her. If you're anything like me...you'd wanna hit that. frequently.

New Excalibur is plot and setting centric - it span out of a BIG Marvel Crossover event, which started the team. The meet and greet happened there, and the series put forward the setting and ongoing plots first. And that's the problem. Because we never got to see anymore than that until #16. The frankly terrible Frank Tieri fill in drove the book into a creative ditch, by refusing to actually tell stories within the setting. And much as though Chris Yost fleshed out the plots Claremont left into proper issues what was missing was the downtime interaction which Claremont usually does so well.

You guys can hate on the man all you like, but you're never going to change the fact that the industry will remember who chris Claremont was in 30 years time. I doubt the same will be said about Winnick.[/QUOTE]

So quit coming in and crying bashing. If CC was doing anything good with Nocturne we'd be talking about it. But all that's happening is Nocturne fans calling foul and CC fans defending him. I don't care what the man has done in the past, he's not doing anything well right now. And you know what? I will remember Winick and his run on Exiles will always hold a dear place in my heart. And that's far enough for me. Because whether or not anyone else reads it is no skin off my back. They're just missing out on some of the best writing in Xbooks in the past 7 years.

And can we stop boning Tieri for stuff he couldn't control? Going into his run, we KNEW he wasn't going to do anything but keep the book treading water until CC got back, and yet we're all bitching over the fact that he did what he said he was going to do. And he wrote Nocturne really really awesome, so he's A-OK in my book ;).

I'd totally agree, there. One of the things which I really wanted to see in New Excalibur was the team having some down time. Remember that leading up to this series Nocturne and Cain had been in Mojoworld for quite some time. And even when she was with the eXiles TJ had met Longshot. There was such a lot of common ground there which should have come into conversation during downtime in the building on Thameside.

I was constantly waiting for some proper discussion about Mojoworld. Last we knew about it Dazzler had come back from there, telling us that Longshot was dead and there had been some almighty screw up resulting in an X-Babies Age of Apocalypse - according to Scott lobdell. TJ and Cain never mentioned ANYTHING about their time there in New Excalibur.

I wanted some slowly filtering conversation points building to a later issue where Dazzler would end up talking along the lines of 'Well, I wouldn't have chosen to be there, but there was this guy, y'know. Kind of an ass-hole, with a big 80s style mullet, but I loved him. He always seemed to have a knack for being lucky, but I guess his luck just... ran out'.

At Which point TJ would have butted in 'Whoa! wait. Back up there a second... Did you say mullet? 80s mullet, and really lucky? Wait here am minute, Ali. I've met this guy? His name's Longshot? Ali, Longshot is alive!'

Anything along those lines. Just using the characters' existing common ground. But no. Such a waste. The guy really hasn't been the same since his time out.

I have to admit, I'm not a huge Nocturne fan, but that has got to be one of my favorite covers. She looked so good in that costume. Brown is definitely her color.

The brown looks good, but I would prefer it was more royal like gold. Having Nocturne in gold armor would be soo kool. She would look more dazzling, and she would like more like an heir to the Magneto family, having Royal Magnus blood! :smile:

Nocturne's not cute. Well okay, yeah she is. But primarily she outwardly exudes sexuality. On a Psylocke kind of level - although in not quite as direct a way.

Ryan showed none of that in his work on her.

Wow, these are awesome! I think I am in love with Nocturne now! She is not only the Sex, but doesnt need her Hex to be an awesome Exile or X-man! I really like the first one and the last 4! The hair is awesome on the last one, and the fourth one her face is real pretty, reminds me of when she first met 616 Kurt cuz she was drawn similar, and the one with her and Scarlet is beautifully drawn!

Yea, I do agree that she is confusing, especially for other writers to write, and I agree she didnt have to become Asian to be a ninja! As for Nocturne, of course I love her, she is a great elfing, and she is the SEX of Exiles, lol. Plus, she is the best friend of Blink, and the daughter of Kurt and Wanda, all favs of mine! :wink:

Wow. That's quite some dedicated con sketch hunting, Nacturne. Some brilliant work, there. The Todd Nauck, Tim Seeley and Mark Brooks sketches in particular stand out. Even Michael Ryan appears to have a better handle on here there. And of course nobody gets the character quite like Jim Callafiore.

There is nothing to like in New Excalibur's Nocturne (aka Rachel 2.0), and I dare say your friend who found reasons to like it is no fan of Nocturne at all.
