Development has moved from Pandemic Studios (who did I and II) to Free Radical Studios. However, the original reporter mentions the exclusivity thing might not last as LucasArts games tend to be on multiple consoles.

I hope that in III it lets you do stuff like put the rebellion up against the CIS, or the republic against the empire. It always bugged me that you couldn't in the others.

I absolutely loved the sense of humor and variety in TimeSplitters. Let's hope they bring that same kind of eye to Battlefront III

The previous sequel pretty much gave me what I wanted. I guess they can improve on: the graphics, more interactive and larger battlefields, better AI for your allies and enemies, and a more accessable flight controls for newbies and older gamers to get into. Just a couple of suggestions to throw out.

Leaked footage of Battlefront 3 (http://kotaku.com/5131846/leaked-star-wars-battlefront-3-gameplay-footage) has surfaced from the now defunct Free Radical. It's not the best quality because it looks like it was recorded on a cell phone, but what can be seen looks impressive... most impressive. :smile:

This has given me hope that we may see this game sometime in 2009.

Wow, I was going to say that this looks marginally better than the previous two games (which isn't saying much), but then I saw the clip of an Ewok headbutting a Stormtrooper in the groin...

Wake me up when Lucas Arts announces a sequel to Tie Fighter.

Me either. I played BFII to death. I thought BFI was great, but II was the one that really hooked me. I have been wanting III for a long time.

Looks like they added Wicket the Ewok and Jar Jar to the heros that can be played. Also, I believe that the cinematic lightsaber fight shown looks to be against Anakin. I don't think that was Obi-wan he was fighting because it wasn't on Mustafar. But it wasn't exactly clear due to the quality of the video. Maybe it was from the story mode.

Some updated news about the game:

Remember that amazing footage of Star Wars Battlefront III we caught a glimpse of yesterday in the leaked footage? It looks like we're never going to be able to play that game.

SPOnG reports that a former Free Radical employee has verified that the footage is genuine, but that the game has already been passed to a new developer. Worse still, the tech that allowed you to fly from the ground to air and then into orbit stayed with Free Radical. The new developer, the source says, will now be using cutscenes.

The source did confirm that my careful listening did pick up the correct phrase in the cutscene, with a Sith saying "stick to the plan Kenobi" and that the Free Radical game was to feature another attempt to turn a Jedi to the Dark Side.

No word if that made the hand-off.

I thought flying from a planet's surface into space without any load times was awesome. Sad to hear that feature probably won't make it into the final game now.

Quoting myself here because it turns out that the character fighting Anakin was indeed Obi-wan. In a "what if" scenario, there was a plotline for the game involving Obi-wan becoming a Sith. See this is how rumors get started and end up spreading alot of untruth because no one thinks.

See how many people just automatically responded "OH I got a 360 so Im safe huh huh huh". This is a leak and no official announcement has been made at all, no beta reviews by official sources, no noting.

So in closing, this isnt a piece of news and no facts have been said at all by the devlopers themselves or the publishers of the game. So before you start running allover the net saying how its for 360 only just think a little first.

Maybe this one wil be more interesting than the other 2 games. They had a certain novelty to them but it wore off quicker than a rent of it was worth. But really I could shit in a box, write star wars on the side and someone would buy it.

I would disagree about the past games loosing their novelity though. Yea I could see how playing by yourself would, but if you had a buch of friends it was great. The live was awful but with advances I don't think it would be anymore.

Also do you have an XBox? From your comments about not thinking it's XBox only I would think you didn't but I feel like I've seen you commenting in Xbox game threads.
