Casting Call: YOU: The Movie

Who would you cast in a movie about your life? What would the plot of the movie be? Would it be an epic story starting with your birth and ending with your life right now or would it just be about one certain event in your life?

I'll start.

The movie would be the story of how Rally and I got together.

Here's the casting:

Me = Jack Black

Black has the comic ability to play me. He also looks a bit like me...though I'm a bit heavier...but movies are always idealized versions of the people anyway.

Rally = Janeane Garofalo

For Rally, you need someone who can play sarcasm very well, Garofalo can do that, she's also about Rally's age (and looks younger than her age, like Rally) and is Itallian like Rally. Rally's a little heavier than Garofalo, but again, idealized. Rally can override this choice if she wants.

My friend Bryan = Jason Lee

Jason Lee is good at playing crazy people...next.

My Sister = Drew Barrymore

I always thought my sister looked a bit like Drew, though she never was quite the willd child Drew was. I think Drew could play her well.

My Mom = Liza Manelli

About the right age, Both have short, darkish hair (though my mom's is greyer now). I think Liza would be about right.

My Step Dad = William H. Macy

My Dad = Kenny Rogers

I always thought my dad looked a bit like Kenny Rogers, less so now that Kenny Rogers has had plastic surgery, but he could still play my dad.


I'll let Rally cast her own family, as I don't think I'm really qualified to do so.

Cathy (my Mom): Jennifer Saunders would play my mom. For some reason that I cannot fathom, my mom has a slight english lilt to her speaking even though she was born in Astoria Queens and raised in Bergenfield NJ. Jennifer Saunders would be great to play up this particular quirk to the level of caricature.
