...with the scheduling as it is. I believe it's important to keep the momemtum going on great projects like this or interest will dissipate. From what I've hear t he show returns at the end of April. It's like the show gives you a few episodes here and there and then dissappears. I'm really concerned that ratings will fall and the show will eventually be cancelled. Is my paranoia irrational?

I've seen like three eps. I keep meaning to borrow the DVD set my friend has to check out more. So, consider me a late bloomer.
Also, because I'm a stickler for grammar and proper word useage, I need to remind everyone that Avatar is not anime. It's a good old American produced show. Nothing I have heard points to it being done in Japan. (I'm sure inbetween stuff is done in Korea or the Phillapeans, but most animation American and Japanese does that to cut costs.)
Still Avatar has had huge crossover with anime fans, so you might as well post it here instead of just the TV/Film forum.

Don't worry, it's Nickelodeon's most popular cartoon by far and has already been renewed for its third season, which in the original plan was supposed to be the concluding chapter.
I'm more worried about the rumors that Avatar's Book 3 will be delayed until September or October because of Nick's scheduling, because I don't wanna wait that long. :(
hmm i mite actually check this out, cos one of my m8s who never watches cartoons actually follows this lol

Really? I figured they'd go for four chapters.
You know, Water, Earth, Fire, and end with Air.

Aang had already mastered Air when they found him at the beginning of the series, so they wouldn't need a season for him to focus on that (at least originally).

Air would presumably be about training new airbenders, then. Also, Aang could spend some time learning to use all four elements together. (Probably to take on whatever major threat that ends up being the big finale.)

I'm not so sure. That was from the magazine author's PoV, so it's kinda subjective.

Somehow I'd see it as oddly appropiate if Ozai gets crushed by Aang only to be replaced by Azula, who turns out to be even worse. (Probably grabbing the power from the comet while her pops is busy or something and becoming totally uber.)
Anyway, Zuko is seriously going to need another season to properly redeem himself.

That's an interesting idea. They should do that. And what does Zuko need to redeem himself for. He doens't owe anything to Team Avatar. He had a serious inner conflict caused by his royal duty being in conflict with the guidance of his loving Uncle Iroh. He abandoned his quest to capture the Avatar, and he was free of the burden of any duty. Then his sister reminded him that his loyalty should be to his family and gave him the opporutnity to end the threat to his kingdom and he took it. I don't agree, but Team Avatar can't be mad at him. Iroh on the other hand should be pissed, cuz Zuko essentially spit in his face.

Frankly, since even before season 2 I've been getting the feeling the final fight will be Aang vs. Zuko powered up by Sozin's comet.
The problem with making Azula the big bad is that, dramtically, it doesn't work as well. Azula makes two or three appearences in season 1, with probably less than a minute of screen time, so there's the fact that she just doesn't have the history.
Then there's the parallels between Aang and Zuko they've been setting up since, at least, "The Storm." And Zuko's dream towards the end of season 2 just reinforces the idea.
Zuko vs. Aang works better dramatically, in my opinion.

Redemtion, in this case, being making it up to Iroh and realising that his father is an ass who needs a serious beating.
Bottom line: I've wanted to see Zuko fight on the side of good since "The Storm."

You have a point. But I want my redeemed Zuko, dammit!
Anyway, if that's the way it goes, I only hope it all somehow ends with Iroh becoming the new Fire Lord. That would rock so hard! :D

Well, Aang and ZUko parallel each other. Thematically Zuko can still go either way. On one hand, The Storm and other parts of late season two could be setting up his redemption, by showing us the good in him. On the other, Zuko could be a tragic figure whose amibitions put him in the position of being the enemy Aang fights at the end.
I'm still unsure if Oozai will be unseated at all though. If they end up taking him out then it's kind of a let down to the audience. He's been built up as this powerful, shadowy, imposing figure, and if we don't get to see him cut loose against the hero, it can be disappointing.
Granted, that's just based on what we've seen so far. The creators of the show are immensely talented and it's possibly to totally go against what's been set up and still make it work if you're good enough.

I think that it is the parallels that will ensure that Zuko and Aang fights on the same side in the end.
Both of them needs to find balance. Aang needs it to fully master the elements and the avatar state to be able to defeat Ozai. Zuko has to find the balance in his own life and discover who he truly wants to be, only then can he have peace with himself.
They both have things to atone for. Aang for disappearing for 100 years and Zuko for betraying his uncle.
In the end they will both have to defeat their greatest foes. For Aang that is Ozai and for Zuko it is Azula. Hopefully the Azula/Zuko fight happens when they are powered up by the comet.
Then they can go to their respective girl, Katara for Aang and Jin for Zuko.

I mean, come on! Nick can't be that dumb to put one of their top animated shows on a one-year hiatus, thereby giving the public ample time to forget about it!
Can they?

This proves my theory that Nick wants to cancel Avatar. When you put a tv show on hiatus for that long it's a possibility that you would have the casual viewers to loose interest in it then go to another program. Once the show comes back it wont have as many fans as it used to be and the ratings wont be as high as it once was. In the end what other option to the network have but to pull the plug.
I hope Im wrong because what other popular Nickelodeon do they have since they canceled Danny Phantom and the only show with the cult following they have left is Spongebob Squarepants.

Because they would rather waste airtime with crappy reality tv shows that nobody gives a crap about. Family Guy poked fun about that brilliantly.
I can understand somewhat about WB wanting to cancel Angel. When you have it's main star admitting that he was tired of the role or wanted something big from the series, like a big screen adaption, then of course WB had to cancel it.

If it is correct that Avatar will return in 2008,spread the word.So people wont loose interest,or atleast a decent number will return to watch.Usually canceling good shows is Cartoon Network`s thing,i would not expect Nick to do such a thing.

I'm pretty sure the writers have been kidnapped by mercenaries hired by CN execs and are been forced to write episodes of Fairly Odd Parents & Ben 10,000 or 10,000,000 or whatever the hell it is these days.
