Reading the interviews on th e X-panels and looking at the sollitations, we can find out the Astonishing character that will not return: Armor. Because Cyclops, Colossus, Beast, Wolverine and Lockheed are all on the covers and we all know Emma will return as well. So it will be Armor who will not return, a sad sad thing though!

It was revealed ages ago, that it was Shadowcat who won't be returning.

That is quite sad. I love shadowcat and it still bugs me she doesn't come back. I don't really see how at this time that armor would have been much of a choice. I mean that would make the whole point of that charecter to be a sacrafice.

I dont even recall the name armor. Are we talking about the Polaris clone. I really find it hard to believe that so many women are running around the Marvel Universe with green hair. If she is the one than it is no big loss.

no she is the student who has the ability to generate an armor from her families ancestors or something. She was a student who has kinda got sucked in.

I'd rather it be Colossus who dies, but I doubt they'd bring him back just to kill him again.

For those posters who don't know Flight, he's lieing. He's joking. Kitty is probably coming back.

The thing about the clues that are stated here is that all are null and void b/c we don't quite know yet when Astonishing is taking place. I hope it's before the X-Over but we just don't know. Whedon has said his scripts are in and most of the art is done. Cassaday is being delayed some by his involvement in Fallen Son: Iron Man issue but editoral is holding back Astonishing.

Well, I find it pretty lame if armor who is just a plot device doesnt return when they have said all along an x-man wont return. Not some plot device they pulled out of their buttocks.

Kitty will be locked in Whedon's basement with buckets of silver paint , that's why she won't return.

Not returning doesn't mean dying. But yeah, Armor's likely gonna eat it.

Even if Hisako returned to Earth I really doubt she would stay on the astonishing x-men, I think Wolvie telling her she was an X-men was just some really good pep talk. She would just go back to training with the New X-men. So even if she survives the breakworld, she wouldn't be on that cover.

Maybe they'll hook up with those remaining in space in Uncanny.

Then they can launch a 4th core X-Men book. :p

Starring: Emma Frost, Marvel Girl, Armor, Havok, and Polaris.

see, if that was the case, i would want Kitty and Peter to stay in space instead of Emma. Throw in Nightcrawler, and I'll happily buy that book to eternity. well, so long as it wasn't written by Brubaker, Yost or Kyle.

Well who is this woman ?

And If I might add, some "one-time" X-men are missing as the "eve of destruction"'s team or even one of the proudstar if armor is to new or just'll be a "emergency" X-men she might not figure on the cover

It's missing Karima, Lady Mastermind and Sabertooth too.

And has an extra Bishop and Angel. I thought brubaker had dibs on angel next.

The #200 cover means nothing, because that arc will be set BEFORE Astonishing season 2.

she wouldn't, most likely. but it doesn't stop me from hoping.

unless she were still harboring the guilt from "Torn" and were to sacrifice herself to save the rest of the X-men, but I wouldn't want to see that, because i'm sick of death, and wouldn't believe it anyway.

Actually, I could see Scott being the one staying behind too... really, at this point Scott, Kitty and Pete are all up for sacrificing imo. I doubt it's Hisako though, she's just too easy an out.

Luckily, they can make it out of conitnuity, it's so lame and pointless, why bother making it canon?

Yes, that's why it's going to be her, most likely. There isn't really any other reason for why she would be there.

And there is zero chance of being Scott or Beast, since both are confirmed to being a part of the crossover, and seemingly will have big roles in it.

Ah, I didn't know about Scott's role in the X-over (knew about Hank though).

How about this then, Pitor, Kitty, Lockheed and Hisako all stay, they join up with Ray, Alex and Lorna out in space, and that becomes the foundation for the new Astonishing X-Men? :D

Andy Schimidt said he was going to be there in an interview. I can't think how a big X-event wouldn't have the X-men's leader there, specially considering mutantkind is about to get extinct and Sinister is going to have a big role.

There's no way Whedon would leave Kitty behind. He based Buffy off of her, and she's essentially his pet character. Whedon has a tendency to kill characters and to do it in a very sudden, unexpected way, but that's with "his" characters. Kitty isn't necessarily "his" character the way any given member of Buffy/Angel/Firefly's cast was.

As for the thought of it being Armor...It's the obvious one, but I'm almost convinced she's going to be Whedon's new addition to the Runaways when he starts his run. Granted, she's not the daughter of a villain, so that would run contrary to the theme of Runaways, but who knows...

Beast
03-18-2007, 10:01 PM
I don't think so. The new Runaway is supposedly going to be male.

Since the Runaways are currently lacking in male members.

Hell, only Chase is really male. We have a masculine cyborg and trans-gender Skrull. :p
