OK does ANYONE remember this cartoon: Goldy Gold and Action Jack
It lasted for 1 season back in 1981, and I barely remember it (I was 5). All I remember is she was a model and he was a pilot and they stopped crime. The only scene I remember is she was standing on a ledge on the side of a building and her high heel broke and she fell, but Action Jack swooped down in his mini helicopter with a lowered rope ladder, and Goldy grabbed the latter and they flew off. Is any of this familiar? I know it exists, because IMDB lists it, but doesn't have ANY info on it!

I don't remember it. The Big Cartoon Database has a little info on it, though.

Neat - of the show's thirteen episodes, Mark Evanier wrote one of 'em, and Steve Gerber wrote the other twelve.

it's probably been on Boomerang.
I vaguely remember the show, I keep picturing Penelope Pitstop when I think of it.
The title is very familiar though.

I remember Goldie Gold & Action Jack! Two young, goodlooking thrillseekers with unlimited funding for their adventures. Goldie had various hi-tech equipment with gold/jewelry motifs. They went up against a bald, 7 foot tall villainess, IIRC. Another cartoon from the "Gold & Spears Co."

no **** man i do remember Goldie Gold as well. I remember she was insanely rich, and used to live into a super duper attic in which she was constantly harassed by snakes, villains and killers. Hell, thats all i remember...and I could be wrong, but that name rings a lot of bells in my head
^and I'm pretty sure there was a scene in which she was having a bath in her huge tub and a snake sneaked in trying to kill her

That chick was TOTALLY disturbing! Didn't she have fangs, pointed ears and a rasping sandpaper voice?
Gonna have to find an image to relive the horror...

I wrote at least one episode of GOLDIE GOLD AND ACTION JACK. I was one of various people -- including Steve Gerber, who took two stabs at it -- to try to write a pilot episode for it. Jack Kirby was the concept artist; all the cool gizmos were his.
The show was supposed to be a teenage version of RICHIE RICH. What none of the suits seemed to understand is that RICHIE RICH is a child's fantasy of wealth; he has simple and benign childlike ideas and pleasures and the wealth becomes a joke ala Scrooge McDuck's fabled money bin because it is so vast. By the time someone hits their teen years -- especially a teen with no parents in sight -- the ideas and pleasures become somewhat more...shall we say, complex?
I remember one network imbecile wanting Goldie to have a homeless friend who lived in a cardboard box and I said, "Would that make Goldie a real yutz, having all that wealth and not being willing to shell out a few bucks to rent a warm room for her friend?" and the network moron said, "Oh, no, he likes living in a cardboard box."
(That got me kicked off the show for about three weeks but then they got desperate and re-assigned me...)
A lot of us nearly got fired on that show. We were having a story meeting early in the show's production cycle in producer Joe Ruby's office. I'm a large kinda guy, so Gordon Kent (then a storyboard artist, later an acclaimed animation director for Disney TV) found a seat behind me and took a nap (I've got a leg that's bigger than Gordon to I provided ample cover).
Joe was going on and on about various things we could put in the pilot of the series, including an Alpine ski chase. Seeking a way to make the ski chase even more exciting, he asked, "Could we animate a giant squid coming out of the snow bank to attack 'em?"
Gordon woke up just at that moment and said, "Yes, we could, but who would want to?" Joe turned purple but I laughed and Joe unclenched, choosing to think Gordon had just been joking. And sure enough, we animated a giant squid erupting out of a snow bank.
The capper is this: Several months later, when the pilot aired, PARENTS magazine reviewed the show and asked, "We suppose it's possible to animate a giant squid erupting out of a snow bank, but who would want to?"

I'm not familiar with the show, but I am curious about this 7 foot tall bald villainess. I hope someone can find a picture of her.
What was the name of the villainess ?

From what I remember Goldie Gold was a 'poor' little rich girl who liked to go out on adventures. Action Jack was a reporter that worked for one of Goldie's newspapers that went along with her as a bodyguard/confidant. She had a small dog and some of the gadgets/vehicles she had were an inflatable tent/suite, a Rolls Royce that could turn into a hovercraft (the wheels flipped downward and jets shot out of the hubs), a uni-tread tank and a flying swimming pool (basically a 727 with the main body an olympic size pool).
Have you tried wikipedia or toonopedia?

I don't recall the show, but I must have encountered it because where I grew up, "Goldie Gold" was a common playground insult to boys who weren't good at sports.

Thanks for all the info everyone! It's so nice to know I'm not alone in rememberig this one! Every place I've ever looked online just lists the name, but basically has no other information.
I imagine it's a long shot, but I would love to see this out on DVD. I wanna see the episodes again!

ME: I wrote two episodes. Several other folks, including Buzz Dixon, wrote episodes. I doubt Steve wrote more than two or three.

I'm going to have to second this, Buzz. I'm finding myself checking up on threads about old cartoons, even ones I never watched as a kid, just to see if you had something to do with it, and an interesting behind-the-scenes story about it.
