News:

-Dave Meltzer is reporting some additional notes regarding TNA's Destination X PPV this past Sunday. Sting was said to be pretty messed up and in a lot of pain following his Last Rites Match with Abyss at the PPV. Sting still appeared and wrestled at last night's TV tapings in Orlando.

[Hmmm. Mutoh is there. Sting feels pain. Coincidence?]

-It should also be noted that AJ Styles had the wind knocked out of him when he took his bump to the ring mat off the Elevation X structure. Despite the big bump, Styles also worked the TV tapings last night as well.

-According to The Calgary Sun, there is a report making the rounds that Ted Annis (aka Teddy Hart) will be signing a deal with WWE once his contract with MTV expires (Hart was part of the Wrestling Society X project). There has been a lot of talk about him coming into WWE for some time to possibly team with Harry Smith and Nattie Neidhart to create a new Hart Foundation. However, when Teddy Hart's name is involved, you don't always take everything you hear 100% seriously. So for now we will take this as nothing but a strong rumor, if anything.

-WWE has doubled (and in some cases, tripled) the price of booking WWE talent for autograph sessions. Because of this, it is likely that WWE talent will start to appear less and less for autograph signings. WWE made the change to bring their talent up to the price they feel they are worth on the market.

The show is on:

Orton is in Edge’s face, claiming Edge is brown-nosing Viny Mac. Edge replies, “You can trust me.”

Styles claims WWECW is sold out.

Battle Royale: ECW Originals vs WWECW New Breed:
The New Breed is here.
The greatest song in wrestling hits, and it’s the ECW originals.
IT IS ON!!

Striker tosses Sandman over the top, Sandman takes a guard rail to the face.

RVD is focused on Kevin Thorne. Korvan is with Sabu. Striker helps Burke out with Dreamer. RVD and Sabu get rid of Korvan. Thorn drills Sabu out, and Sabu lands in an interesting flipping manner. Its RVD vs Striker and Thorne vs Dreamer. Burke’s waiting in a far corner, and goes after Dreamer with some “ground and pound.” I like to call it baby tantrum. Thorn kicks RVD down; Striker tries to capitalize, but its sunset flips for everybody, courtesy of RVD. RVD tries on several occasions to take Thorn over. He does it with a flying body press. Both go over but RVD holds on,however he clearly touches the floor with both feet; Striker knocks him down to make it official. Dreamer gets rid of Thorne, and now it’s Burke. He strikes with that flying knee backsmasher. He throws Dreamer over, but Dreamer holds on. Burke thinks he’s won it; Dreamer gets the drop on Burke and over the top Burke goes.
Winners: ECW Originals.

Foley comes out in the middle of the Originals’ celebration.

Cheap pop. Cheap plug for the book. Even Foley says so. He talks to Dreamer and brings up their last encounter. He offers Tommy a peek at the book, but Dreamer drops it. Foley brings up One Night Stand as being his contribution to making sure the originals got what they deserved. He tries to get a [WW]ECW chant going with the crowd, but it’s a mixed bag of [WW]ECW chants and WHAT.

We are shown Snitsky, and all of his victims. He’s next.

It’s Layla and that dance-thingy. Nice and all, but the Nitro Girls got’em all covered. Snitsky’s music hits, the girls ditch the ring and we have a….

Jobber. Handicap. Match: Snitsky vs a couple of jobbers:
Maybe they could make Snitsky the botched up evil stem cell clone of Lashley. There’s enough to compare. It’s Sci-Fi. Taz can’t remember the jobbers names during the replay.

Burke tries talking to Punk. Everyone has bad nights. This is a smart way of making Punk shine. No sides. As Punk says, “It’s all about me.”

More talk in Hollywood about McMahon and Trump. No one better have touched Kelly Hu.

Randy Orton vs Bobby Lashley: Lashley comes out, and the constipated dragons blow. Orton comes out, and he’s not happy. I think he’s upset Kennedy took his tattoo. The ever faithful Edge comes out. A big ole Raw label right next to his name.

The bell rings. They lock, trading kicks and punches. Orton works Lashley’s left knee; chokes him on the ropes. Orton gives Lashley all the time in the world to recover, and Lashley clotheslines him. Orton rolls out of the ring and decides to argue with Edge. I believe Orton was supposed to be thinking Edge was working over Lashley. Of course, it would have been nice if the referee was thinking the same thing.

Back from commercials. Orton has Lashley in a Boston Crab. I wonder if anyone’s ever farted on another wrestler’s head when they do a full boston crab or sharpshooter?

Orton puts the boots to Lashley. Orton cuts off Lashley’s comeback with a thumb to the eyes. Orton’s actually being allowed to get some offense in. He beckons Lashley, goes for the RKO, but Lashley shrugs him off. Edge tried to interfere, but the ref caught him and threw him out of the ring area. Orton’s mad. Lashley goes after him. Commercials. Coming back, both men are down; Lashley’s outside the ring. Once again the heel gains control during the commercial break. Orton does some nasty head stomping to Lashley’s melon on top of the steel steps. Orton gives Lashley a suplex outside. Back in the ring, only a 2 count for Orton. Orton goes back to the stomping, and suhweet dropkick to Lashley in the corner. Orton goes after the Boston Crab/Walls of Jericho-ish type maneuver. We got “boring” chants. Lashley grabs the bottom rope. Orton toys with Lashley. Pleads for him to rise only to punch him down. Orton tries to gutcheck Lashley, but the champ moves, and Orton’s shoulder dines on fine steel.
Running clothesline, and a spear into the corner by Lashley. Another. Lashley does a standing backdrop followed by an elbow, a cover, but only 2. Lashley hits the falling torture rack. Lashley hits the Dominator. 1..2..3.

Vinny Mac gives Lashley no time to rejoice. Lashley tells McMahon to man up, and we fade out.

Thoughts: This show had its share of – uh – stuff. Everyone’s hitting their spots, the Battle Royale wasn’t bad at all. There didn’t seem to be enough mixing of the wrestlers. Everyone picked hitting partner, and pretty much stuck with them, and flew out over the top when they were supposed to.

Snitsky’s getting his build. If he does what he’s told every day for the rest of his WWE contract, he shouldn’t be failing any wellness tests any time soon.

Orton looked good tonight, except for that moment when he allowed a half-fainted Lashley to recuperate. Really, he’s been looking good these past few weeks, and he’s really the only competitor to have given Lashley the thrashing that he did. Next week, Lashley should continue with his unstoppable warrior push next week until it’s time for Snitsky to take him on.

Whether or not it’s intentional, Punk has been handled well on WWECW in the promos these past couple of weeks, but we’re going to have to wait until after Wrestlemania to see if anything interesting is done with him.

I really wonder if they were trying to piss the crowd off with the Snitsky/Lashley matches or not. As I said in another post about this , the Main Event was a heatless match . Orton's doing all he can to get heel heat and make fans wanna cheer Bobby Lashley and it leads to boring chants.....wow.

I'm sure it's happened a few times. Some were likely accidental.

And others were probably pranks. I expect Owen Hart probably did it to someone during his career.

man i'm sick of the ECW originals getting buried by the new breed every week, the fued is so 1 sided.

snitski got a decent reaction.

Mick Foley's promo got NO reaction at all. Reminded me of when he appeared at Taboo Tuesday against Carlito and the fans just went to go get some popcorn instead.

Lashley vs Orton was pretty sluggish and hard to watch. Orton controlling offense is the last thing ANYBODY wants to see and fans let him know that with the "Boring" chant. But I still remember when heel Lashley ruled the world in 2005.. "Blastaar" Lashley vs Alexis Laree(Mickie James) during the Heyman era of OVW: http://www.vidilife.com/video_play_911489_Alexis_Laree_vs_Bobby_Blaster_La shley_OVW_May_24_2.htm

i would've loved to see a team angle with kurt, WGTT, and lashley, that would be an awesome stable.

Yes..I was hoping that a Team Angle could of resurfaced in ECW last year. Shelton, Haas, and a Lashley could of carried the work load for Angle while he could of took some physical time off.

I have got to see that!

Snitsky looks like Kane now, but uglier. And why do they seem to be trying to sell him as if he's a totally new character making his "debut". He's got the same name he did months ago!

The Foley segment was just weird. He's been totally face on his Raw appearances, but now he comes out and talks about betraying Dreamer, saying it was for the good of ECW. I think people were just confused about what they were going for.

I'll take the admittedly imperfect TNA over WWECW any day of the week. The Orton match was way too sluggish and both men seemed uncomfortable in the ring.

I liked the Battle Royale, except the Foley stuff after it just killed the buzz of the Originals winning.

The Orton-Lashley match was terrible. You can tell that the two of them haven't worked with each other much before, if at all.

It was also a little long. Orton actually got to use every move in his offensive moveset--like 3 times! It was extremely repetitive. But at least Lashley didn't ram his shoulder into the post when going for the spear!

Just slightly better than Kane-Batista last week on Smackdown when it looked like Batista was actively trying to sabotage the match by keeping the pace slow slow slow.

The Foley segment was totally worthless. I thought he was going to be the special guest referee or something. Just a cheap stunt to grab ratings.

I actually liked the Battle Royale. (Although wasn't it advertised as an Extreme Battle Royale?) More drama than the Royal Rumble.

Wait, Tommy Dreamer won last night! (Gave me a swerve, I thought RVD was going to be the hero, as usual)

It seemed to me that the best parts of the match happened during the commercial break. Kudos to Orton though, as soon as the "boring" chant started, he started antagonizing the crowd, getting that negative heat directed at him, rather than the match.

I got home right when Foley was leaving. He's usually great at promos, so I wonder what went wrong with everyone saying the crowd was dead. Anyway, the rest of the show was rather lackluster. I still think it may have been better than Raw though. I still have a bad taste from that damn tag gauntlet match. I'm tired of super Cena, but I'm REALLY tired of HBK.

I was certainly hoping for better between Lashley and Orton, but that didn't end up being much of a match. When both guys start repeating moves, they've been given way too much time.

Hmm, I think a big problem with Foley's appearance was how split the crowd was.

When the show started (and the camera was panning around the arena) there was actually a faint "E-C-W" chant going on. Then I realized it was because they were in Trenton, NJ. which is about halfway between Hammerstein Ballroom and the New Alahambra Arena. There were probably a lot of old-school ECW fans there to help support their suffering brand.

I was wondering if they would acknowledge Foley's previous heel-turn against ECW, and I think the old school fans remembered too. But the average Smackdown attendee probably completely forgot about that storyline. So the crowd was a weird mix of ECW fans who wanted to give Foley a hard time, and the typical WWE crowd who got bored because they were referring to something older than 3 months, so they got bored and started the "what?" chant.

i think they should've just completely ignored that storyline ever happening like they usualy do, i guess now we know why they do that.

oh crap, and RVD just beat elijah burke last week too:o maybe i'll watch the show next time before jumping the gun.

Rob and Burke oddly got over 12 to 15 minutes for the match and the 2 had a very good match. I think Rob's trying to put on showcases so TNA will likely sign him at the end of the summer.

So now Rob can dictate how long his matches can go in ECW ?

Maybe RVD leaving isn't a done deal just yet

source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

- Rob Van Dam's WWE contract expires at the end of this summer. RVD was under a downside guarantee of around $400,000 per year, until this past year when he asked to be paid per show. ECW didn't do to well so his payment range went down. He stopped the auto-rollover, which means he has to renegotiate his deal and renew or else he'll be a free agent come September 2007.

- Of RVD "He feels held back," says one friend. "He's frustrated and wants to be somewhere where he can be himself."

- RVD would likely be offered at least $250,000 by TNA, and that may go down considering his push will drop off completely if he does not resign soon with WWE. John Laurenaitis is not a fan of RVD professionally or personally, which doesn't help make a renewal go smoother.

- A second friend of RVD's, though, believes he will put up a fuss for a while, but once he weighs his options, he'll renew with WWE because the money will be better. If not, another likely option would be getting paid six-figures to not wrestle, but allow WWE to retain his intellectual property rights for a year or two

They really don't have anyone who can put on a decent enough long match as an ECW Orginal. Rob's not as shot as Dreamer is , or as bad a wrestler as Sandman & Sabu ...hence why he's getting all the tags and all.

The line about his property rights is something Ace doesn't wanna do either. Its said if he did resign Rob Van Dam he wants him to work and not sit at home for a year or 2 and cash paychecks.

Another thing to realize is if Rob does sign with TNA he'll likely get a Kurt Angle deal and TNA will try and get Spike to put up some money. Plus in contract talks over expanding TNA Impact to 2 hours on Wednesday can put over what a star Rob Van Dam is and catch at this point to help with the signing. Rob would likely work a deal where he can work indies/Japan where he can make a shitload of money there as well.

Right now Rob's in a hell of a spot. If Vinnie Mac gets worried enough he'll have Ace pony up the dough and keep RVD. If not I suspect you'll Rob on TNA shooting a fued with Jerry Lynn at Bound for Glory.

Wait till TNA gets a 2nd hour then we'll talk. As it is now , they can probably fit in RVD for a 5 minute segment where Nash poke fun at him. ;)
