View Full Version : Is 'The Other' really over?

Civil War began pretty much right after The Other ended. Marvel's biggest crossover event ever followed the first Spider-Man crossover event in five years prior. Maybe we got sidetracked? What happened to Peter's 'Other', his antithesis? Maybe a new villian in the near future?

Look to Peter David's book, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, for that stuff.

It appears that Back in Black will touch on Peter's upgrades from the Other and that previous upgrade where he got bio-webs. And as Doom said, FNSM is eventually supposed to continue the story about that spider creature.

Speaking of The Other and biowebs, I just read Avengers Disassembled and saw that at the end of the whole thing, Peter had biowebs... did that get retconned, fixed or ignored after that?

I stopped reading Spidey comics around then. Does he still have those claws?

Yeah, he hasn't lost any of this "Other"-gained abilities.

But only Peter David seems to remember he has them.

Nope, he still has the organic webs.
Yeah i remember reading an interview with Joe Q and him saying that once civil war was over they would touch on The Other again...it just wasn't really priority to talk about it during a big marvel war so =Z Personaly i liked the idea of him being reborn, the organic webbing/stingers/ability to be able to see in the dark i didn't like...but hell i gotta live with it now ¬_¬

PAD is doing some great stuff in Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man.
Check out the book for more on the post-other related happenings!!
It's a great book, lots of fun, go buy it now, lol!!!!! You won't regret it! Grab the "Derailed" trade paperback ASAP, if you don't already own the issues!
SPOILERS
The Other spider-swarm creature we saw at the emd of the other has presumably hatched from her cocoon and has shown up at Peter's school as the new school nurse!
Very good stuff! The ongoing Uncle Ben from an alternate reality is very interesting too, and I'm wondering if the plots are somehow connected?!?!

JMS does too. Check out the "One More Day" preview.

Someone mentioned this before, but everyone seems to forget that CW started immediately after the Other. JMS has done his best work in a while with the CW books, he got me excited about ASM again at least. Now he has an opportunity to deal with the after events of both the other and CW. Everyone instantly says he forgot he had more power, just give JMS some time I guess.
Also I am glad PAD's dealing with the Other stuff.
One last thing: SM life needs to cool down for a bit. I am intrigued by World War Hulk, but I am sick of major events in the Marvel universe.

I agree, but I don't think Spidey's going to have much to do with WWH, thankfully. They may mention it or he may even be in the main WWH book, but he's not getting a tie-in which is great because he has more than enough on his plate right now to deal with and digest. CW kinda screwed up the Other, but now that it's over, I fully expect JMS to flesh out the Other some more.

I seem to remember spiderman always having the ability to see in the dark. There were battles in the sewers where he had the distinct advantage because he could see better than most of his enemies.

Really? I remember a couple of instances of him fighting in the dark and only having the advantage because of his spider-sense, not any enhanced vision powers. It was how he beat Molten Man in his first appearance, which must have been pretty early on... right after the first Spider-Slayer, too.

That's what I remember as well.

This is true. His only advantage in the dark was his spider sense. They actually talk about it in the 30th anniversary issue 'Spider-Man' 26, if you happen to have that laying around.
