Jim Lee's Huntress in Hush was fantastic.

Second would be Benes in BOP.

I agree. I loved how Jim Lee drew her.

Eh. Still. I hated her redesign in Hush. Oh and that she did jack diddly in the story too. Terrible treatment of the character. Then again, I didn't care for the story anyway.

Benes was good. McDaniel had that arc in Nightwing I enjoyed. We are only just now are getting used to Nicola Scott on BoP.

Oh... she wasn't used well in Hush, but then most characters in Hush weren't used well.

The artwork for Hush was, in many ways, the only saving grace of the Hush storyline. I liked how many characters (especially Huntress and Riddler) were drawn in that story.

"I don't know who was best, but Jim Lee's lingerie supermodel was by far the worst."

I'll just go ahead and say it: I love having my superheroic babes be total hotties.

How did Huntress get "terrible treatment" in Hush? Yeah, she played a minimal role, but her appearance was basically her showing up and kicking ass, while Batman's inner monologue states how good she is. That's not "terrible treatment."

Gingold
03-11-2007, 09:56 AM
Joe Staton drew her well. I liked Rick Burchett's version in Rucka's miniseries, too. Benes and Lee were terrible.

Benes is very fond of the crotch shots in BoP, so I can see why the fellas would pick Benes. I like the character, but have always thought she has the lamest costume. What's with that pointy Scarlett Witchy mask? And those earrings? The first thing I'd do in close combat with Huntress is rip the dangly earrings out. Sorry to get off topic, though...

I have to say Joe Staton, Rick Burchett.

NOW, WHO WOULD I LIKE TO SEE DRAWING THE HUNTRES???
Leinil Francis Yu: A master illustrator, good with characters that pack gimmicks and are surrounded by tech, vehicles and urban surroundings. His women are beautiful and believable, his design is awesome.
And probably just to try JG Jones, Joshua Middleton and Ethan VanSciver

Benes has been for some time in comics now and he still can't get human proportions well drawn. They pick him to draw women because of the same fact. Rather lucky than good huh?

It means that the board won't allow you to post messages that are shorter than a certain length, so people have to put that in there to pad short responses.

It's hard to decide between Jim Lee and Ed Benes. I guess due to his long run in BoP (constant 'refinement', 'honing' for bodylanguage & story-telling), Ed Benes would gain a slight edge with his rendition of Huntress.

It's not bad. It is overly cheesecakey (and kept me from discovering this book for a quite a while) but unlike most of the cheesecake artists he gets basic anatomy correct, uses proper sequential storytelling instead of loosely connected pin-ups, and the worst part of that picture (Huntress's lingerie) is a Jim Lee design.

I don't mind it. A little cheesecakey but the bodies are all in proportion and I like the facial expressions. The Huntress costume is just plain ugly but that's not Benes' fault, it's Jim Lee's redesign.

I've had the first few Gail Simone Birds of Prey tpb's (which start with the one pictured) kicking around for a while now and Ed Benes's art is the thing that has put me of starting them.

I actually forced myself to start the first one this morning, and to my surprise it's actually quite enjoyable despite the art. Luckily the interiors (though not good) aren't nearly as bad as the cover.

Yeah I liked her in the old Catagion costume, she looked more serious and dignified. I also liked the Hush one though only when it was drawn by Jim Lee.

The one right now in the present book is bloody awful and looks stupid.
And the fact that the artwork is ugly does not help matters either.

AGREED AGREED AGREED. Her current costume only exists to attract horny geeks to the book, and it really lessens the serious-ness of the character. Might as well have the Birds Of Prey mud wrestle each other while you're at it.

You do know that the Jim Lee version isn't current, right? It's been modified to cover more skin.

Personally, I think it still needs work. I mean, look at her. Instead of the belly window, she now has a massive white stripe down her front. That's going to look real stealthy at night, isn't it?

I haven't seen Balent's Catwoman, but I've seen some issues of his Tarot series. Comically large breasts aside, the art is very pretty.
