View Full Version : PITCH SLAP! Where Should the Acolytes Be Now?
Faded

Scanner's been depowered. Unfortunately.
Many could be dead in the attack of Genosha that killed 16 million others.
And Frenzy is part of the newest incarnation of Acolytes.
If you were in charge, where would you put the Acolytes now? What should their lineup be? Would some older members become X-Men, while others join the Brotherhood?
TAKE CHARGE, fellow fan(wo)manz!
Me:
I'd like the new Acolytes to be fighting for Scanner and her powerless state. They're out for revenge specifically for her, since everyone loves her so.
The new lineup would be:
Frenzy
Unuscione
Flex
The Kleinstocks
Neophyte
maybe, Tempo
(if I were ambitious, I'd probably add Xorn in as well. Luckily, the Collective Arc told me not to be ambitious).
They'd serve as an ongoing villain team for the X-Men, but not be as terroristic or fanatical as they were before. They'd have a more personalized outfit, but their outfits aren't *that* different from one another. They were used to being so numerous and powerful, but this team is just trying to survive without the help of the X-Men or O*N*E. They're main gripe is about their lack of acceptance and the double standards they (specifically, the Avalon team) were treated towards. They will also get a mini-series because they rock and we need to see more of why they are grey-area characters.
Eventually, Unoo and Scanner join the X-Men because I loves them so. <3 <3 <3

My roster:
Neophtye
Unuscione
Kleinstocks
Skids
Voght
Frenzy
Exodus
New members would be:
Godfrey Calthrop
Amina Synge
Calthrop and Synge would join because...well..they need a purpose in their lives and yeah.....pretty much, they'd just be the X-Men's rivals....they'd be searching for Magneto and Scanner because the Acolytes never leave their own behind.
Plus, they'll be trying to recruit Polaris and Collossus back.
Edit: Ooooo, Faded is right, Flex would be a good recruit because of his possible connection to Unuscione.
And I forogot to include Exodus. He's down with Magnus.

Frenzy, Javitz, Unuscione and Exodus. Go witch hunting. And make her repower Scanner :)

That'd be cool! It'd be an ironic twist for them to hunt down their Lord Magneto's daughter for the $@)(# she did. Wicked, too, whose been deranged by the effect of Quicksilver's powers!

The Acolytes should be in New X-Men where they'll be taken care of in a single issue.:D

Hmmm, first off I'd like to see Skids join Rogue's squad since she's familiar with Exodus and could be a spy for the X-Men. And after she helps bring down his new team, Sally could confront the Scarlet Witch and make her bring back Rusty from the dead. Then they could lead an all new team made up of the New Mutants from the 80s: Cannonball, Sunspot, Warlock, Magma, Karma, Moonstar, and Illyana. I'd buy that book in a heartbeat!
As for Amelia Voght, I'd like to see her have some sort of reconcilliation with Xavier. I always liked their relationship before, and it'd be cool to see them reunite after all these years.
Finally, I'm all for a Cyclops/Scanner relationship. They SO flirted during the Fall of Avalon, and would be cute together.

I really liked the initial idea of the Acolytes being almost a fundamentalist mutant terrorist cell. Magneto as true blue Messiah, orbiting the earth with his disciples in a satellite was a nice image.
But after the initial introduction they were sidelined and then eventually decimated by Holocaust. They appeared again later, but more as background characters during Mag's rule of Genosha and such. The religious cult angle had been lost.
I think this was a shame. I would have preferred if the Acolytes had found another messiah to lead them - which I guess Alan Davis was thinking when he had Xavier reject them, he didn't want them to revere him in the same way(?).
Apocalypse would have been the obvious choice, but the Celestials have him now. Guess we'll have to see what happens there.

The Acolytes should be...
Frenzy, the headstrong, superstrong leader.
Unuscione, the cheeky yet classy shield.
Kleinstock Brothers, the wise-cracking long-range attackers.
Scanner, the kind-hearted scout.
Neophyte, the naive protector.
With Magneto no longer there to guide them, they'd serve as mercenaries for hire. The main reason they'd ally themselves is because they have no one else, Magneto's "dead" and they're all alone so all they have is each other. :D

Frenzy should be in Nyssane's room doing him with a strap on.

Does NO ONE like Tempo in the Acolytes? lols
I'd like to see the Acolytes interact with the X-Men like how the Brotherhood were in Evo. They like...were totally jerks and villains but were also occasional allies.

I feel the Acolytes need to be seen as a credible threat. No more pantomime villains, i want the Acolytes to be scary.
Performing extremely violent acts of terrorism against the American government (who in the light of civil war they believe are involved in a conspiracy against superhumans and M-day was in fact some sort of government released plague)
Now we're talking violence on a large scale
Roster: Ill come back to this...but id like to expand the roster greatly.

Scanner can't be scary. :(
I see your point though. A group as fanatical as the Acolytes could definitely come straight from the scariest people in real life. Because of my fanatical love of them, I wouldn't want to see them so nasty, but I see how that would work.

And clearly she's already the most dedicated Acolyte by far. I mean, did any of the other Acolytes ever try out Mags' oh so trendy bucket-helmet fashion? Yeah, that's what I thought.
