I was reflecting on the SHRA and what it means for the heroes in the MU.
If you have powers, you have to sign up, get trained and fight the battles of your superiors.

Though with Xavier you have a choice, but if you're a mutant enrolled in the school, you get training and wind up fighting Charlie's battles for Charlie's cause. Or the cause of whatever headmaster is there at the time.

So with the exception of being forced to enlist and all, fundamentally is there really a huge difference between Charles Xavier and the ideology of the pro registration camp?

If that were the case with mutants, there would have already been a 50 State X-Initiative years ago. Not every mutant who gets trained with their powers becomes an X-Man, or even wants to be.

In the case of Xaviers, it was really just a school. From what I understand fighting for his dream was more an option than a requirement (a requirement more often than not people wanted). And obviously you can leave anytime you want. Not an option with the registration.

In theory the registration doesn't necessarily require you to fight either. Merely that they have to power to force you to do so if they require it. It's the draft aspect in particular that seperates it from Xaviers dream.

But practically speaking, there are similarities in execution and end result.

Realistically that's not something we can expect to happen under Tony's watch of course... but the scary thing about the registration is that theres no gurantee the guy after Tony or the guy after him won't be quite as benevolent.

We all saw how quickly Fury was replaced by an idiot like Hill, who was really nothing more than a puppet. One day we might get a director of SHIELD that will begin using heroes in that manner.

And that highlights another difference between the registration and Xaviers. You have the right to say no (unless Xavier goes into his occasional dick mode with the telepathy). What's he going to do? Give you detention. When you're drafted, you don't have the luxury of saying no. And no doubt that will become an issue down the road.

I'm frankly suprised it hasn't become an issue already. Particularly with She-Hulk... guess she's not quite the person I thought she was.

I'd like to see Jenkins take on the Registration, on the ground. Jenkins takes the devils advocate, and makes you see the the dirty face of Shield, like when they visited Wonderman and forced him to cooperate.

I would like to see how shield convinces heros to pull up stakes and head for Ohio, for cryin' out load. Where is Ohio from NY? It's like everyone gets forced to go on summer camp; like the heros are school children, and Shield is the headmaster. At some point, they'll wanna come home.

I don't think it's quite going to be the "migration crisis" you make it out to be. For starters, if the "Rangers" and "Champions" are any indication, in most cases Tony is organizing the 50SI teams from heroes that actually live in or near the state they're protecting already.

Even if it means taking a bunch of ordinary people from that state and just -giving- them super powers (ala the Champions).

So while your scenario might crop up in a few cases, I don't think it'll be all that widespread.
