Silver Surfer - Dangerous Artifacts

Finally got around to reading this one-shot...and all I have to say is: What was the point?

What basically happens is Galactus sends the Surfer to investigate a comet and bring back some sort of crystal of immense power, and at the same time Thanos sends some girl named White Raven, to do the same. Of course the two collide, but don't even fight. Instead, they end up fighting off some monster, who was incased in the crystal. So after they dispose of him, they head back to their respective masters, hanging their heads in shame.

So again...what was the point? I mean love Ron Marz' work and everything, but this felt like a waste of time.

I didn't read the one-shot, but you can pretty much say the same about most of the latter part of Marz's run on the Silver Surfer, as well as the '90s "Cosmic Powers Unlimited" stuff, as well as....

I think Stan Lee was right to limit the use of the Silver Surfer way back when. The truth is that most writers simply don't know what to do with him. Marz wrote the character for, I dunno, 5-plus years but I never really felt he had anything to say.

SS is hard to right...and soemtimes hard to read. Annihilation changed that imo.
