Have you guys noticed that all of the characters in the Starlord mini are wearing the same uniform? Look at Groot, Rocket Racoon, Mantis, etc. according to Wizard (thanks Nova3333) this is a military resistance team which has been assembled by the Kree. This should be good. I just want to see how Quill and Richard Rider's relationship has changed or matured.

I havent seen Bug in forever!
I might actually jump on board the Annihilation Wagon for him alone!

I need to read up on all these characters, I'm not familiar with any of them outside of Quill of course.

I like the uniforms, very officerlike and at the same time still show the difference between them when they show their powers.

Yeah... seeing Bug (full sized no less) was quite a suprise. I wonder he'll be sticking around in the cosmic scene or if he'll return to the microverse.

Considering that this book is being described as a suicide mission-adventure, and Giffen is known to take some crazy twists with his writing, I wonder how many will actually be around at the end of the series.

That's a good point... we saw in Annihilation that they're more than willing to kill of characters. Quasar and Thanos can attest to that. And this is basically a collection of red-shirt wearing C listers. This could definately turn ugly.

Really ugly, really fast - and really good.

Unless Rocket dies...:(

That's the thing writers have to remember when they kill of characters. Everyone is someone's favorite character.
Hopefully the Annihilation writers won't be channeling too much of Infinate Crisis when they're writing the conclusion to this. Seeing a bunch of C listers we havne't seen in years charging heroically in to battle only to see them ANNIHILATED sounds kinda uncool.

That's a worry that we all had during Annihilation. Personal favourite characters who despite c-list status slowing evolving into a-grade, ever with the potentiality of being killed off in gruseome dramatic ways. No one could have guessed that Quasar would die in AN4..but cruely the clue was there in Silver Surfer when readers noted Annihilus wearing the Quantum bands. Then of course it turned out the A-list too wasn't safe when Thanos also popped his mortal clogs..only to ascend to a higher plane of existance. I too worried, like my Nova fans that Rich too would die despite a radical character revamp. As it is it didn't happen BUT that doesn't mean he's safe; it could still happen in Conquest. We ourselves don't know when fate will interevene; we're all on borrowed time at the mercy of fate...

LOL, that's how I felt with Cloak and Dagger in Civil War.

If you have an on-going series you're reasonable safe.
Granted Phylla is living proof that that heroes can be replaced. Still, Nova is the LAST guy I see dying in Annihilation. He's he safest character in the cosmos right now.

Yeah, that's a great cover.
Marko Djurdjevic seems like a mix of Jo Chen (Runaways covers) and Dell Otto (Secret War).

Izzat Djurjevic? The image title is "Starlord 1," but I thought Nic Klein would be doing the Starlord covers?

I love that costume, especially the mask/helmet. Still iffy about his name though. Star-Lord? Unless he's gonna be ruling some kingdom or he's uber/cosmic-powered, I don't see how that name fits him at all. Especially if his only real power now is a gun (where'd his old Element Gun go anyway?).

It made more sense in the original version, where there were no superheroes, he was an immaculate conception with the sun empowered by Shazam, apparently, then revealed to be the son of a galactic emperor.... aw screw it,Star Lord is too damn complicated. And trying to figure out how he fits into continuity...ouch.

As I understand it, he left it with his ship, and it was/will be passed along to the second Star-Lord:

Starlord has a very complicated origin which I hope to hear more about in the new series and yes, lovely cover. It'll be interesting how his relationship with Rich/Nova survives, or not, as/whe he takes up the role which he chose not to take on during Annihilation for deeply personal reasons.

They might as well just retcon it or insert some new one with parallels to that......stuff there.
