Man, am I going to miss these creators. Vaughan and Alphona really bring it for their finale, ending on a serious high note and bringing things (to a point) full circle.
This basically boils down to the team versus the Gibborim. I'll let someone else go into all the particulars, but it's a nicely done piece of equal parts fight scene and character piece. Xavin finally feels like part of the team, Vic has two great moments, and both endings are just killer.
Oh, and nobody dies. I know we were all worried about it, but all is well that ends . . . well, sort of.

Vaughn set-up Whedon pretty good IMO. It'll bad to see Vaughn go but this issue was great. Definitly one of the best runs of the past few years and one of my favorite Marvel runs or all time.

This was a great issue. I am going to miss Vaughan, but Whedon will do a good job. Glad to here that no one dies.
Great last issue by Vaughan and Alphona. I think I'll wait for the trade of Whedon's run.

Mini Summary
The Runaways track Chase down, with Karolina, Nico, and Xavin leading the way. Molly is stuck babysitting Vic who's still out. Chase tries to have OL delay the others doesn't work when she refuses to fight. The Gibborium don't go along with it though Chase's plan since he's willing and it needs to be unwilling, and they go after Nico instead.
Molly listens to the voice in her head, and fixes vic. "Yes god can make a sandwich so big he couldn't eat it, then he'd eat it anyway".
Vic and Molly do their best wolverine collosus imitation and save Nico. The Gibborium fade away not gettting a snack soon enough. Team forgives Chase and returns home to see 'Iron Dick' waiting for them.
The scene cuts to where the Gibborium faded too and we meet the voice inside Molly's head. Not Gert but Alex.
I'm going to miss this team, even if I didn't care for the art too much in this one (way too many wideshots and extreme closeups for me). A very nice set up for Whedon.

Bah you beat me to it but here's my late summary anyways.
I hate it when it says review and spoilers and theres no actual summary...please someone actually break down the issue.
It was a great issue and I'm going to miss BKV.:(
Summary
Nico, Karolina, and Xavin go to save Chase while Molly stays behind to protect a zoned out Victor. Chase sends Old Lace to keep them busy but Karolina tells Old Lace that she's nobody's slave anymore. Seeing how O.L. swapped sides, Chase put a sleeping spell on Nico.
We cut to Molly who is desperately tries to wake Vic up. Molly hears "Gert's" voice and repeats: "Yes, God can make a sandwich so big even He can't finish it... and then he would finish it anyway."Vitor finally snaps out of it and take of to go rescue the others.
Chase begs everyone to leave so he can sacrifice himself and the Gibborim take out both Xavin and Karolina. The Gibborim then tell Chase that Chase can't sacrifice himself because they need a "unwilling participant" to be sacrifice i.e. Nico. The Gibborim then snatch Nico (who is still under Chase's spell) and are preparing use her as a sacrifice until they are inter rupted by Victor and Molly.
Molly + Victor = Fastball special bub.:p
Victor saves Nico and the Gibborim fade away. Nico kisses Vic,Molly excepts Xavin as her "sister" and Chase and Karolina share a tener moment. When the Runaways return home, they are greeted by Iron Man and decide against walking away. We later find the Gibborim in limbo along with Alex who reveals he was the voice in Molly's head rather than Gert.

Yup - Alex thought that he could get out of limbo/purgatory/whatever by helping Molly. No dice though.
I'd have to say that this was a fitting conclusion to the arc and BKV's and Alphona's time on the book. Some random thoughts:
Molly and Victor are awesome together - the whole sequence from "Not all mutants can fly" to "Two words bub" was great
It seemed a little convenient that the moment Victor saved Nico, the Gibborim 's time was up, but at least it's been made clear from the beginning that their time is limited, so it wasn't entirely out of nowhere
I got a "let's wrap up some character loose ends" vibe from the little scenes between Molly/Xavin, Nico/Victor, and Chase/Karolina, but they did do the job. I especially liked how the "we'll rip his damn heart out" line came up again , but with the characters reversed this time.
When Chase tells Karolina to go back before she loses her girlfriend too, who is he actually talking about? I'm pretty sure he's referring to Nico, but Xavin does show up in the very next panel, so it is a little ambiguous.
Iron Man showing up at the end is a good reason as any to have the kids abandon the Hostel.
I liked Chase's last line - "I'm gonna vote against walking away". Clever way to use the title (if only in an indirect fashion) - much more elegant than Chase's "it's time to stop running and start avenging" from Runaways/Young Avengers.
And of course, the epilogue with Alex.

who said the relationships between the teens in this book were normal?
it's kinda disapointing to see the giborrim go. they were the main villians for the runaways to fight. who will their arch nemesis be now, iron man? (of course, he's on everybody's list these days)
since it's doubtful the runaways will get away from this jam, do you think they will be drafted into one of shield's new superhero teams?

I doubt it - especially given the last line from the Runaways proper.
I'm pretty sure the next "real" issue (ignoring the recap one) will start with them in New York already. How they get away from Iron Man might be how the recap issue ends.

The "Saga" series, like "Astonishing X-Men Saga" before it have NO new story. It will be entirely, as you say, a recap. So, it probably won't gloss over the Iron Man escape, looks like Whedon will deal with that in some fashion.

But surely there are a few New Avengers in that pic, not to mention some others who I believe remain unaffiliated (X-Men? Cloak and Dagger?)
Is that Victor or Chase beside Nico?

If you check the Avengers threads several months ago I started a thread discussing how I didnt think it was Stark in the Iron Man armor in the Mighty Avengers. We've been debating who it could be.
I just picked up the wizard mag and in it theres a small blurb about one of the marvel staff who leaks out that Chase is in the Iron Man armor in Mighty Avengers. He mentions how the editor for Mighty Avengers is going to be pissed at him for mentioning it.
So.... if I am to take that leakage as a fact.... I really need to stop eating these potato chips with Olestra!

It could be a red herring, that employees ideal of a joke. However note Iron Man's appearance in the end and that Chase has an aptitude with technology.

I'm pretty sure it's just a promo picture - there are some people in that who shouldn't be, if it's supposed to be the actual "roster" of the Initiative.
The preview for #25 implies that they are on their own in New York secretly meeting with someone - that doesn't seem to fit in with what the Initiative is supposed to be. They're also worried that She-Hulk might be a problem for them - if they're acting as "SHIELD deputies" or whatever the hell you actually end up being, they wouldn't be so worried.
And the whole "decide against walking away" isn't supposed to mean that they join up with Iron Man. It's a play on the title of the book.

ITS A COVER TO A CIVIL WAR BOOK! There is NO CONNECTION TO THE INITIATIVE! It is WRITTEN IN POSTS BEFORE YOURS!
Why aren't people reading a thread they're posting in?!!
There is no question, it is a McNiven drawn image to promote Civil War, used as the cover for the Civil War Files one-shot. There are characters who DIED IN CIVIL WAR #1! What is so hard to understand? Also, the Wizard thing... if anyone buys that line of bull, I'd like to sell them some magic beans...

I am calm, but these boards are constantly being filled with posts asking questions that have already been answered and making duplicate threads. I don't think its unreasonable to suggest we all read threads and articles at least somewhat more closely before speculating and claiming errors or contradictions when an issue has been clarified already. That being said, I was definitely harsh, and I AM sorry if I came across as an @$$, and its no excuse, but my webspace was hacked twice today by someone with WAY to much time on their hands and all my files were deleted. No excuse for rudeness though, to be sure... Again, sorry if I offended.
I'm done digressing here and eagerly waiting for the next issue of Runaways, very curious to see where it goes under Whedon's guidance.

No worries.
I agree about looking forward to Whedon's time on Runaways - I can't really put it in concrete terms, but I find his "style" of writing (say from Astonishing X-Men) to be different than BKV's (from Runaways or anything else he's done). Not that he won't do a good job, but I expect it'll be somewhat different.
One thing I hope doesn't happen is that the Runaways end up in New York full-time. I liked how they were out in LA, a part of the country with fewer people with superpowers and whatnot, so it offered a little more creative freedom in terms of what the kids could and could not do. Given the current state of affairs, they'd get busted in a second in New York by SHIELD (unless they're registered or something - but the Runaways as stooges of SHIELD sort of goes against the entire premise of the team as powered teenagers distrustful of adults on their own)

I like the issue. But it isn't the best issue they've done. It was average most of the way. But the ending with Iron Man was pretty good. Overall a good issue to end on.
Nice that the door was left open for a way of potentially bringing back Alex... which we all know is going to happen eventually, assuming the title continues.

A day late and a dollar short, but this was a great issue. One of the best runs I've seen in 15-odd years if reading comics. Every issue was enjoyable, I love all the characters. Whedon is gonna have to seriously impress.

Decent issue. I was a bit underwhelmed because the arc ended exactly as I expected it to, and I was hoping for a bit more of a surprise--something that would genuinelly shake up the book.
The scene with Alex was interesting; I hope Whedon acknowledges this, since it's too good a plot point to drop.
When Chase tells Karolina to go back before she loses her girlfriend too, who is he actually talking about? I'm pretty sure he's referring to Nico, but Xavin does show up in the very next panel, so it is a little ambiguous.
I didn't think it was ambiguous at all. Chase was talking about Xavin, who was putting him/herself in danger by taking on all of the Gibborim single-handedly.

A solid wrap-up to a great run by BKV and Alphona. They will both be missed, especially since this marks the last ongoing MU book Vaughn seems to be doing for a long time.
As for the next arc, while I am tempted, I think now is a good time to jump off the monthly wagon. While I am tempted to keep reading it, I just dont feel certain enough to pay for another 12 issues (I subscribe) and will instead follow the book through trades.

That seemed more like purgatory than hell, which is probably where the pride went. If the gibborum are reeally just children themselves it makes sense.
This was a really great run.
