Every now and again to cheer myself up I check out Rob Liefields website, every now and again he surprises me with some almost decent stuff but this is a weird one.

Check out the sketches, tell me I'm going mad but every single one of them has a wonky right eye (the one on the left as you look at it) it's higher in every picture even when the pose is tilted in the opposite direction. Even the Animal Man sketch, the goggles slant up putting his eye in his forehead.

It's not a critique merely an observation, but you have to admit it's an odd quirk.

Oh and anyone who defends this with 'It's his unique style.' for the love of god get a book on anatomy.

Meh. I'm not saying he doesn't suck, but the anatomy thing is the most tired, bullshit argument. Because you could have called Kirby on anatomy issues. Case in point, check out Stretch Armstrong here.

Ha! No doubt! Kirby cartooned in specific, consistent ways. Liefeld's inaccuracies vary from panel to panel (eyeball examples notwithstanding).

Except I'm not saying that it's bad because the anatomy is off. I'm saying that's just how it's done. Rob sucks because Rob sucks, but if you try to objectify why it sucks, you're going to lump in artists you like, too. Which doesn't change the fact that he sucks. But it's more than because he can't draw ankles.

I'm going to assume it's a mis-spelling or re-spelling of skew-whiff which means, askew, awry, lopsided, or cockeyed. It's that crazy British idiom.
