This issue of Hellblazer is an anglophile’s reading pleasure. John Constantine is back home in England, having a late night drink among countrymen. This provides ample opportunity for the writer to sprinkle dialogue with all sorts of British slang and lots of charmingly named locales. Since there isn’t a Yankee in sight, there’s no pretense for providing any sort of explanation, which is actually a refreshing change. Anyway, the story itself was a nice, one issue mystery and a good end to Carey's run. I posted a full review of the issue over there (http://madbastard.hypersites.com/site/page/pg3175-pn_Hellblazer_229.html).

That's cool. Y'know, there's a Vertigo forum where this would be more appropriate.

I liked it a lot, especially after Mina's pretty lackluster run. Carey writes a damn fine John Constantine, and he's always been able to make every story as much mystery as horror. This one was a great example of fine storytelling for a character like John's.
