So, if I can get a walk-in tattoo appointment tomorrow, I may have new ink by the time I make it to Rocketship. I'm down to three images. Help me choose. I may not actually take your advice, but I will keep it under advisement.
All three images are representations of Thoth:
His roles in Egyptian mythology were many. Thoth served as a mediating power, especially between good and evil, making sure neither had a decisive victory over the other. He also served as scribe of the gods, credited with the invention of writing and alphabets (ie. hieroglyphs) themselves.
So, here are the three images.
Image One:

I like this one because it has a very classic feel. My worry is, though, that while it's classic, it may not work well as a tattoo.
Image Two:

I'd just be getting the version on the left. I like the head and the coloring quite a bit.
Image Three:

This one is a little more ornate. I don't like the head quite as much, but I do like the detail.
So, what are your thoughts?

Can you do image 2 with the detailing from 3?

Maybe. I'm not sure. I don't see why not.

Image 3 is the most pleasing to my eye . . for whatever that's worth.
I know nothing about tattoos . . .

You're right, two's color is better. But what if in that color you had the chainmail design of three?

I like the head better, too.
Yeah, maybe with the chainmail added. I'm also going to have to do something around it, as I plan on sleeving that arm out someday.

And you should have Thoth have a tattoo of you on his arm!

I like 3 as well but I like the head of 2 better.

That says "Mom." In a heart!
Or maybe Thoth can have an awesome Captain America tattoo.

Haw!
No, seriously, a little tattoo of you. And then hire a microtattooist to have a tattoo of him on the tattoo of you on the tattoo of him! INFINITE TATTOOS!

I think you should instead get a tattoo based on a Jim Balent drawing of a big-boobed woman.
Failing that, I like Thoth #3.

Got to go with number with but with an extra tattoo on Thoth's arm of Crowley's face!

That is odd, isn't it?
Seriously, at first I thought that the post read "representations of Toth". :D

I like #3, and getting a tattoo of you on Thoth's little arm is a great idea. How will this look against your skintone, though? And can they make it look raised, like this?

As for ornamentation, I found this, and I like the eyes and junk at the bottom.

I voted 3. Mostly because of the head. It's just kinda creepy when it's as small (compared to the body) as in the other two. Agree that the colours for #2 are the best. Especially for translating to skin.

I love image two. That's awesome.
Your tatoo idea inspired me to draw today since I'm stuck inside with the snow. I used to draw tatoo designs for friends all the time. Let me know if you'd like me to sketch something up for ya.

I voted for #3 because of the cool hieroglyphics.

That's not what I expected the attachment to be.
Seriously, I can't stop laughing. I think there's something wrong with me.

Ed as long as this thread is revived, what would your patron saint Ol Blue Eyes himself say about you having a sleeve?

He'd mock me. But he's dead, so he can't.
I've decided on a modified version of number 2. The guy is doing a custom piece based off of it. There are certain things about the form of it that I was desperate to keep, so we're working from there. I have an appointment set up for March 31st.
I hate waiting.
