Looks like everything is shipping out on schedule this week. I'll admit I'm curious about the Greatest Batman Stories Ever Told Vol. 2. Can't wait to see what's in it. In fact, I'm still considering going back to read Vol. 1. I have the original Vol. 1 that was published in the 1980s, but the revised Vol. 1 contains some new stories.

Showcase Presents Aquaman is a tempting volume too, but I can't stand black and white reprints, so I'll pass.

I'll be grabbing:

Nada.

I wonder if anyone will buy the Showcase Aquaman? Was his title EVER good? Did it have some sort of appeal that set his book apart from the other heroes? I know that people have distinguished between how Capt Marvel and Plastic Man and a few other heroes are portrayed now as opposed to their earlier, more popular incarnations. Or did Aquaman always suck?

So, does anyone know for sure whether or not Wonder Woman #4 is coming out this week? It's not on Diamond's shipping list, and on DC's site it's listed for the 21st, but the most recent Newsarama DC Previews (http://www.newsarama.com/dcnew/Feb07/previews/feb14th.html) has it listed for the 14th. I really hope it will come out on Wed because even though it's really good, it's not good enough that there should be this many delays.

You'll notice it isn't on our list. That's because it's not shipping this week.

Showcase Presents Aquaman is a tempting volume too, but I can't stand black and white reprints, so I'll pass.

I don't mind the Showcases being in b&w at all. They're shot from the original art and the pictures are sharp and crisp. Not at all like some of the muddy Marvel Essentials I've seen.

I wonder if anyone will buy the Showcase Aquaman? Was his title EVER good? Did it have some sort of appeal that set his book apart from the other heroes? Well, I'm sure going to buy it. Not that I expect to find any classics here; these are mostly short back-up stories. So they're pretty one-dimensional, but still ofttimes fun. The art by Ramona Frandon (one of the first professional comic artists who was a woman) is pretty good too. And no, Aquaman didn't always suck.

What I meant to ask was: why is Newsarama saying that it will come out on the 14? It's the most recent source to mention it, so perhaps something has changed? Sorry if I wasn't clear the first time.

The only early issue of Aquaman I ever read was the one where he got married (#9 I think). It was surprisingly imaginative, and the undersea world was plenty interesting in that issue. It's made me want to read more with a slightly more than passing curiosity. Of course, I've read some later Silver Age Aquaman stuff (including "The Creature that Ate Detroit." I kid you not), and couldn't stop laughing.

Just thought I'd point out that with the freak weather being experienced in many parts of the US today, your local comic shop may not have recieved its order (or may not be open today). I recommend calling first.
