Hey there. I'm Gene Marsh and I'm a printmaker, comic book fan and regular poster here at CBR. I figured it was about time I started a thread on the NEB to share some of my work, so enjoy! There's more to come, so keep checking back and leaving your comments, criticisms, requests for me to father your children, etc...

I love this work man. Like the self abuse aspect to some of it.
God use of yellows and browns with splashes of red.
The Shambler reminds me of my own work a little.
Keep posting.
Its great. Who is the model?

Just a quick update on what I'm currently working on:
As I'm typing this, I'm on a short break from stretching pig intestines into flat sheets and salt curing them for a screenprint that's going to be sewn into a handmade copper frame. It's super time consuming, with each sheet taking about three hours and four lengths of intestine to form. Luckily, it's a collaborative piece, and a friend of mine who's a very talented metalsmith (and who also came up with the idea for the piece) is forming the frame out of 12 gauge copper. If there aren't any major disasters with the production, it should be done in about a week. I'll try to photograph it as soon as possible, because I think you folks will really get a kick out of it.

The second I saw 'Pliers', I was reminded of the song 'Can God Fill Teeth?' by LARD (Jelo Biafra side-project).
Nice work, Gene. I too am jumping on the 'Headache' bandwagon, but I also really dig your figure work. You get a really great effect with an economy of detail. Nice.

Here's a shot of what the sheets of stretched intestines look like.
http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j263/eg_marsh/Photo3.jpg
That's roughly an 11"x15" sheet. I made four of them and one smaller sheet with what I had left over. Had I actually used the intestines for making sausage (what they are actually intended for), I could've made 100 lbs of homemade sausage.

This is what apparently happens after a 23 hour printing marathon. I'm real glad I paid $50 for that screen. Real glad. It's also safe to say that this is the kind of disaster that will set the intestine project back a bit.
And yes, UTV, I'll help you father children.

Here's a low-res, in progress version of a newspaper ad I'm working on for the gallery I work at. The text is crap, so I'm going to have to rework that, but considering that I had a whole lot of stuff that I had to fit into a small space, it's looking pretty decent overall.

Yeah. I've changed the ad pretty significantly since I posted it. I changed the body copy to a bolder, sans serif font and dropped the glow. I put a less busy photo in the background and dropped a middle value gray behind it to dull it down so it wouldn't compete with the other images. The names of the artists that made the pieces that are featured were added and the web address was moved to the center of the black banner.
