O.K.. this is a fun one! Sometimes I'm drawing Lego toys... Some times I'm drawing VS cards... Sometimes I get to draw just what I want.. I had alot of li'l pieces of biz to take care of around the house all day. Finally I was about to go to bed when I realized that I'd not drawn at all today!.. So I decided to do some light sketching... The attached pic is the result!
Now the question is... Who out there knows who this character is..? I'll give ya a few hints... She been around for a while now, but only wore this outfit for about 3 months!
Just to make it interesting the first to get it right gets a free print the next time they see me at a convention! Go ahead and attach your guesses as a part of this thread!
( By the way.. Mike Q. and Jaz, you guys aren't allowed to guess!)
I can't wait to read your guesses!
Good luck!

Scarlet Witch?
I probably don't read enough comics to figure this one out.

Baby Dave.. It is kinda hard.. but I'm pretty sure that you've seen this character before... The Scarlett Witch is not correct! But man, I wish that marvel would make her outfit a bit more theatrical like this. .( and I don't mean that George Perez gypsy stuff either !)
Hint #2... This character first appeared further back than the Scarlett Witch!
Keep em coming!

Well this is my first post. so lets see if there is any beginers luck
Looking at the nails I am going to guess Black Cat
Stuart Sayger

The Black Cat is a character that I love to draw.. but again.. incorrect!
...Here's clue #3 and an refresh of exising clues!
#1 NOT Storm!
Hint #1...Storm is far too nice! .. This character I drew would probably be considered a villian
#2 NOT Scarlett Witch!
Hint #2... This character I drew first appeared further back than the Scarlett Witch! ) The Scarlett Witch's first appearance is X-men #4. in the year 1964!
#3 NOT the Black Cat!
The Black Cat first appeared in Amazing Spider-man #194 in the year 1979, though she would have been counted as a villian!
Hint #3...The Character I drew has been in many many comic books, but her first appearace it'self is not from a comic book!
I'm having a good time with this! The guesses have all been good ones! All three of the guesses were characters that I like to draw, which is always a good thing to consider when guessing! Just to keep this interesting and keep the guesses coming... I'm going to double the prize to be TWO prints!
Keep the guesses coming!

possibly Vampirella?
As i get a red x,i am taking a real guess
Stuart Sayger
02-13-2007, 11:55 AM
AH... The Vampirella guess is a really good guess!... Her first appearance ins not in a comicbook , but rather a magazine ( Vampirella #1)...Which I believe was from about 1970.. ( So she's not an old enough character, as we're looking for a character that pre-dates the Scarlett Witch in 1964...) You diid come up with a character that first appears outside of comic books, and that is a hard hard criterias to match!
Guess who this Character is clue #4... This is a character that actually gets married!.. and has a child!
A review of all clues..
1 She's probably considered a villian!
2 She predates 1964!
3 Her first appearance is outside of comic books!
4 She did get married and did have a child!

I'm not going to give another clue just yet as the guesses of Typhoid Mary and Catwoman don't meet the criteria that has been established that this character first appeared outside of a comic book....
..also.. HEY! DID CATWOMAN HAVE A KID, AND I MISSED IT!?

Ok I am fighting for that clue. Yes I agree that the Catwoman did not meet the criteria of starting outside of comics
But as my proof shows Part of the New York American article of June 20, 1909, which first identified Mary Mallon as "Typhoid Mary." She did indeed first appeared outside of a comic book
Judges a ruling please!

1 She's probably considered a villain!
2 She predates 1964!
3 Her first appearance is outside of comic books!
4 She did get married and did have a child!
5 This character has YELLOW skin... Well.. at least she did for the first several years of her existence... Though on screen she's usually been caucasian!

Is it Ayesha, from H. Rider Haggard's She?
Stuart Sayger
02-14-2007, 05:37 PM
O.K.. hands down "SHE" is the best guess yet!.. I could easily see how this drawing could be mistaken for her... But alas.. the drawing is not of "SHE"
.. Which means that It's time for the next clue!
This character first appears in 1934 and has been seen in several different medias outside of comic books including movies!... and though it probably doesn't help any, her first words were, "STOP STOP I SAY! IF YOU KILL THIS MAN, YOU MUST ALSO KILL ME!"
previous clues are...
1 She's probably considered a villain!
2 She predates 1964!
3 Her first appearance is outside of comic books!
4 She did get married and did have a child!
5 This character has YELLOW skin... Well.. at least she did for the first several years of her existence... Though on screen she's usually been caucasian!

YES... YES .. YES!.. THE CORRECT ANSWER IS INDEED PRINCESS AURA!
SLLAMKYO1 IS OUR WINNER!
Princess Aura first appeared early in 1934 in the fourth ever Flash Gordon comic strip as created by Alex Raymond... Aura is indeed Ming's daughter and for the first few years of the Flash Gordon comic strip she was probably the #2 villian. Though not as vicious as Ming, she did a lot of ordering people around, some killing, and was very self serving with most of her time spent trying to force Flash Gordon in to being her love slave.
She wore the outfit that I've drawn her in for about 3 months in early 1935 during a well loved stretch of the Flash Gordon comic strip known as "The Tournaments of Mongo" ( see attached pic
http://users.mw.net/~karza/forum/aura.tournament.jpg
Hundreds of men from all over the planet volunteered to compete in "The Tournaments of Mongo" knowing that all but the champion would die. The winner of the tournaments would be made king of one of the lands of Mongo and also have his choice of all unwed women to marry. ( I guess that on the planet Mongo women didn't have any say in the matter...even when you are the ruler's daughter!). The tournament continued through 14 Sundays of the Flash Gordon strip until there were only two fighters left: Flash Gordon and a mysterious masked champion. It was discovered mid way through the final battle that the masked champion was actually Prince Barin ( Flash's best friend ). Barin had entered the contest for the opportunity to marry Princess Aura, whom he loves, though no one ever really knows why... When the crowd learns the masked champion's identity the contest is stopped and both men are crowned and given their choice of wives... Flash and Dale become engaged, as do Barin and Aura...
Interestingly enough the Feb.24th, 1935 strip has a panel that really shows how women are thought of on Mongo... ( or by macho earth men in 1935 )
http://users.mw.net/~karza/forum/aura.tournament2.jpg
Sadly, Aura loses most of her personality and importance to the strip at this point, Though she and Barin do have a son that becomes a point of interest as he is the grandson of Ming.
Great stuff that I really enjoy! The reading is a bit tough at times, but one has to remember that this work was intended to be read one strip per week and not all in one sitting.
Thanks for everyone who guessed! I hope everyone had as much fun with this as I did... I'll have to do something like this again soon!

Neeeevermind. =X

OUCH!.. Your guess is incorrect! ( and a li'l too late as we have a winner!)
The correct answer was Princess Aura from the Flash Grodon comic strip...
Though I have to say that the guess of Red Sonja is a very good one indeed it meets all the criteria, and I could really see the character wearing this kinda getup!
