Thanks to the wonderful Jim MacQuarrie I'm going to be moving WWTT off of LiveJournal and on to my own domain (http://www.luchins.com/wwtt/). I'm still in testing and won't be ready for a while, but I figured I'd give a sneak-peak here.

I'm using WordPress, and so far it's really neat. I've tried three Treo clients for it and have them all working. I still have to learn more about the plug-ins. For example, there's one that automatically cross-posts everything to LiveJournal. That interests me because I don't want to vanish from there entirely. I'm just not sure I understand how to install it.

The big project right now is getting the color scheme to match.

I figured with all the posters we have here, someone must know about WordPress.

Any hints for the Newb?

I've been thinking about starting a blog myself, and I've just about decided to go with WordPress. I found some tutes Tuesday, and I thought I'd bookmarked one of them, but apparently I didn't. I'll have to see if I can find them again. I'll post if I do.

(Now if I just knew what I wanted to talk about . . .)

Not what I was looking for, but this site (http://themes.wordpress.net/) has a crapload of themes. One's bound to be close enough that the adjustments won't be that big a headache.

Yeah, seen that site. Staggering volume of themes.

I use WordPress for my blog on thegeekout.

Are you going to be using the self hosted version or the server hosted version at wordpress.com?

You should be able to find a template that works for you or one that you can modify easily to what you want. I don't really know that much CSS, but I made my sites the way I wanted by tweaking other's templates.

You might aslo want to try Akismet. It's a spam blocking plugin that works pretty well.

So I set up the blog for my dad last night and the new WWTT. It jsut needs a blogroll and me to export the old LJ posts.

None of the exports apps work on my mac. Sigh.

This is the clostest I found to a comic book-y theme (http://www.luchins.com/wwtt)

You guys like?

It's a little dark. Maybe you should use lighter colors to better match the content?

Just found this Word Press Theme cheatsheet (http://www.headzoo.com/wptcs.png).

EDIT: I actually like this one (http://themes.wordpress.net/columns/2-columns/1486/see-you-at-the-beach-10/) for your site. It almost matches the peach-ish color you have now. Obviously, you'd need to change the picture . . .

The viewer can change the colors! Try using orange.

Hey Typo, have you done anything with plugins yet? I found this one (http://projects.jesseheap.com/all-projects/wordpress-highslide-js-plugin/) the other day that might be helpful, especially when you run full pages like yesterday. There's a demo at the link.
