I'm sure that DC has no interest in matching up their popular icons with Marvel's blatant ripoffs. I've enjoyed some past appearances of the Squadron Supreme, at least their encounters with the Avengers, and the Gruenwald series was great, but they would just look cheap side-by-side with the classic original characters.

The only writer I can think of who could pull that off, and make it work well, would be Mark Gruenwald. So, suffice it to say, it ain't happening.

This would be a very funny book,
seems ss are essentially a homage to the JLA.
The authority are much more unique.
Now that would be a great book.

Oh Gawd Nighthawk versus Batman would be good.
Also there is no Princess Power in Squadron Supreme its Zatara or something.
Also Dr Spectrum not Prism.

Unless she died or something, the traditional Squadron Supreme has Power Princess, who is the Wonder Woman analog.
They also had an Zatana analog (Alanna?).

They are one and the same. Power Princess' name is Zarda. In the old school version she was a direct ripoff of WW. In the new Supreme Power version she is basically a female Hyperion. She also was sent to Earth in a rocket just like Hyperion. So the closest DC analogue for her now would probably be Supergirl. Although we've never gotten to see Supergirl with full frontal like we have Zarda. ;-)

Sadly, I agree.

I would like to see this for only one thing...to see the JLA get their butts handed to them!!:D
The new Squasron Supreme is certainly an interesting bunch... any confrontation between them and the JLA might be interesting.
Though the potential rip-off factor might might it a bit cheesy even if it's well made.
Though truthfully the current Squadron doesn't look THAT much like the JLA. You can still see the similarities... but it's different enough that it might not be as distracting as the old Squadron would be.

Davids,I think its a great idea. The original Squadron vs. their JLA counterparts, I'd love to see it. Since the Supreme Power characters have no problems inflicting harm, they should fight the Authority.

I just remembered about Wizard's take on an Ultimate JLA a while back. If it was followed through,:D I could see them fighting the Supreme Power characters.

I recommend reading 'JLA: Earth 2' by Morrison and Quitely, or watching the 'Justice League Unlimited' Episodes featuring The Justice Lords instead.

Am I one of the few people not amused by these 'homage' characters?
The oringinal Squadrom miniseries was awesome, and groundbreaking, and said something deep about Superheroes in general.
But then it should have ended. The Heroes of Angar, the Extremeists and their foes, half the character's in Planetary, all the fake Marvel characters in that Superman/Batman arch, every other appearance by the Squadron Supreme, and all the rest.
They just don't interest me.

I don't see what the point of a JLA/SS crossover would be.
With JLA/Avengers a lot of the story was about the culture clash between the two groups; each group had its own distinct personality, and the individual characters in each group also had distinct personalities.
With Squadron Supreme, they never had their own personality, other than as a JLA ripoff/spoof/homage. In Gruenwald's miniseries, whatever personality they had was basically created to service the story he wanted to tell, but they still had nothing like the decades-long history of the JLA or Avengers to serve as backstory.

Damn straight. It's a shame The Gru never got to write for DC; his ideas for the characters were fantastic.
