What monster, madman, or other various evil spirits did you enjoy the most? Which witty saying was most pleasing to your ears? Which charm or spell was the most charming? What one little detail made the Hellboy-verse all the more richer?

"Is that a monkey?"
"He's got a gun!"

"Is that a monkey?"

yeah, that one really sticks with me, too.

I also like the exchange between Hellboy and Von Klempt in Conqueror Worm.

"They were monkeys!"
"APES!"

For me, its that scene in Hollow Earth where Hellboy visits poor, scared little Liz, and she's all the way against the headboard hugging a pillow and crying, wondering if she'll burn Hellboy, and HB digs out the lollipop and hands it to her saying "nope."

Hellboy carrying the baby at the end of "The Corpse".

Also: "Big talk for a guy with no pants" (Wake the Devil)

"What a life" (last panel in RHOD)

The sailors' souls/birds emerging from the jars in The Island and the mermaid regretting that she will never join them.

The bird that stops singing in "The Nature of the Beast." Amazing that Mike figured out a way to do a sound gag in a silent medium.

The giant cowboy boot arrow skewering Anubis was cool

Hellboy using the St August cross as a baseball bat to smack Grenier

I'd have to agree with Tad on this one. Though that was not the first story I ever bought or read, it was that wittle moment with the wittle bird that made me weawize just how capable Mike weawwy was.

Wholeheartedly agree. I quickly searched for that panel online last night to link to it, but gave up after a few google pages worth of not finding it.

I'll also add the drinking with pirates portion of The Island. Great mood, dialouge, and images.

Yes! This one too! That one page has everything. I't like a story unto itself. Would love to have that one hanging on my wall.

My favorite little moment was in the movie. It was right after Kronen when Hellboy and Manning have that "it's better if you use a wooden match. It perserves the flavor, see," moment.

"Roger?"

"Hellboy named him in the car."

"What's your name?"
"...anung un rama..."
"PHAA! That's just words, boy. What do they mean?"
"I don't know"
"Anung un Rama, world destroyer, the great beast..."
"...'and upon his brow set a crown of fire'..."
"Is that who you are?"
"I.... no"
"Well then, boy. It's not your true name is it?"
