Saw this today. Did anybody have internet troubles yesterday?

Hackers attack key net traffic computers (http://www.wkyc.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=62766)

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Most of us who use the Internet didn't notice it at all.
But computer scientists sure did.

Hackers were able to overwhelm at least three of the 13 computers that help manage global computer traffic.

Yesterday's effort to disrupt the Internet
is being called one of the most significant attacks against the 'Net since 2002.

Experts say the attacks lasted as long as 12 hours -- and while most 'Net traffic was unaffected, scientists had to scramble to deal with the huge amounts of data that threatened to
swamp some of the Internet's most vital pipelines.

The Department of Homeland Security has confirmed that it, too, was monitoring what it calls an anomaly with Internet traffic.

Can't say I noticed.

It sucks that the Internet is that huge and depended on, but basically controlled and monitored by a handful of vulnerable supercomputers random assholes could anonymously attack.

Define "attack".

Define "attack".

It was AP's word. "Disrupted" would be better, probably.

Define "attack".

From what I know, the attackers sent tons of data packets, originating from South Korea, to the 13 DNS servers. These DNS servers convert domain names to IP addresses. And just because the traffic came from South Korea doesn't mean the attackers were based there.

So....this AP wire reported....nothing.
