Is it worth reading? The first trade is out I have seen and I might pick it up...

Definitely worth buying... Huston's done a fantastic job with it... The art is beautiful... I don't normally enjoy Finch's art but it's magnificent for Moon Knight and really atmospheric. It's brutally violent and incredibly bad ass...
Moreover, in Khonsu, we have one of comics most interesting supporting characters.
I bought the premiere hard cover and loved it. I'm definitely on for this series...

Do it... For me it was the best thing to come out of 2006.

Huston does have some problems with pacing, presumably because he's never written for comics before. However, despite the (minor) pacing problems, Moonknight is completely and utterly badass. Finch's art, out of place in New Avengers, is absolutely perfect here.
If you're looking for light, fun, breezy entertainment, this is not it. Moonknight is dark, dark, dark. And grim. And dark.
Read it or Spector will rip off your face.

Isn't Finch being replaced shortly?
I agree that Huston has pacing problems. The most recent issue being one of the best (worst?) examples of this. Still, it's a good take on the character ... and it seems as is the character will grow beyond how we see him now (kinda broken).

Dark is what makes comics these days.

I think those numbers are excellent. Why is the book selling so well? Does Moon Knight have such a large fan base? Is it because of Huston? Or did Marvel really push this book??
Anyway, I read the trade and didn't like it too much. I like it dark and grim but this was over the top. Too much brooding and suffering and unnecessarily violent and sadistic. Not my cup of tea.

Like everything else, it's a matter of taste.
I thought the art and writing perfectly captured who and what Moon Knight was suppossed to be about. It was dark and gritty... and that's exactly how Moon Knight was always suppossed to look and feel.
Of course, that's not everyone's cup of tea, as you said. But for what it was, it was done well.

It will be interesting to see how the sales do once Finch leaves in an issue, and then Houston with #13.

Yeah, it's doing amazing.
It's selling more than Captain America and Iron Man in fact.

I got all the issues except for 2 and I've heard it's the best one out of the bunch. I've tried looking for back issues and have even asked my Local comic guy if he can back order some (unfortenetly they stopped printing).
Damn I'd really hate to spend some cash on the first volume.
Wished I got into the series earlier.

Before this I knew/cared jack about MK before this. I got the hc trade for the artwork alone. Having a badass story was a nice bonus for me. And if this is the how Marvel handles MK from now on I'll keep buying
I just have read the "the bottom" HC an i enjoyed it. I think Moon Knight is a interesting character, so now i am thinking about buying the essential Moon Knight.
Is essential Moon Knight a good read?

Agreed, I bought the essential the week it came out because I wasn't well versed with his history and I was hyped for the new series. His first couple of appearances, while decent, were a bit weak, but once you get to the Doug Moench "Hulk!" magazine stories and his first series, it's really good stuff.

Likewise I second this thought. I found the origin of the Moon Knight stories very interesting. It just peaked my interest for the new series right before it started.
I also am concerned that if Finch leaves what is going to happen to book. We see this very often when an initial creative team which came up with a great idea and direction but then after the first two or three story arcs they move on to other titles. For example, remember the recent Kazar title a few years back. With Kubert doing the art it was great but after he left the title fell quickly. Please let's not have this happen again.

Glad to know this book is doing good. Recently subscribed to this wonderful series after reading the first few issues through erm... 'online means'. Big fan of Batman and this Marvel answer to him is great. I'll also be sure to pick up the essential book too.

Well, I'm not so concerned with Finch leaving, the new artist has a very similar style and is very good, at least from the pencils of the first 5 or 7 pages I've seen. I'm more concerned with the fact that Huston is only confirmed as the writer through issue #13, I hope he stays on for more, but I guess it's up in the air at this point.

In all honesty I don't know if Moonie is a big enough character in his own right to maintain a long-term run... If the series doesn't last past Huston so be it.... This run's been awesome so far and would hate to see it turn to bantha podoo

Great book, the Hulk appearances are absolutly awesome, wish I could find the actual comics, but they aren't easy to find. I also love the Spectacular Spidey issues too. I suggest anyone interested in the character buy this book!!!!!!

Hope Huston carries on past #13. Pity Finch is leaving. Can I see preview pages of the next artist anywhere?
