i wrote my master's thesis in Art History on Hellboy. yep, sure did. now that i have a little distance from the whole experience (and caught up on sleep), i'd like to work it into an article or two and try to get 'em published.

can any Hellboarders recommend magazines or scholarly journals that might be interested? subtopics in my thesis include:

- "quoted art" within the panels of Hellboy
- Mignola's visual storytelling structure: how he communicates time and space
- Hellboy as classical mythological hero (based on Campbell's Hero with a Thousand Faces)

many thanks for any and all suggestions. :)

Are you on the comix-scholars listserv? If not, that might be a good first step. You can get information about subscribing here (http://web.english.ufl.edu/comics/scholars/sub.shtml).

Check out ImageTexT, an interdisciplinary comics studies e-journal (it's peer-reviewed and fully legit, although perhaps lacking the "cool" factor of a traditional print journal)

http://www.english.ufl.edu/imagetext/

(if you go there now you can read a paper I co-authored with another fellow about David Mack's Kabuki)

The science fiction publication Extrapolation might be a good place to look into as well:

Definitely think about the Journal of Popular Culture:

as your project sounds like a pretty good fit there
