There are spoilers in here, so be warned.
While there are some links between FF and the DC Universe (Ray Terrill showing up, reference to the old FF being killed in Infinite Crisis, references to the Bludhaven book), what's going on in Freedom Fighters seems divorced from the rest of the Marvel Universe.
The President is a robot trying to turn all American into zombies that he controls. I assume that includes the heroes.
Although the FF has been called terrorists, I see no reaction from the rest of the hero community. Can you imagine a group of super terrorists and the the JLA not getting involved? (Though I guess the president could have told them to back off and let the government "heroes" handle things. But Batman would never leave it at that.)
Also, I'm still confused by how there could be a new group of FF members, with similar costumes and powers, right after the old crew (with a couple of exceptions) has been killed off. And, not that this is a book deal, but what happened to Rod Reilly, the original Firebrand, who was a member of the team in the 70s, when they last had their own book?
I am glad to see Ray Terrill back in the group. Since he had not been killed, it made little sense to have a new guy with his dad' costume and powers appearing in the group. And I'm glad Stan turned out to be a creep.
And I'm surprised that there has not been more talk about this book in this forum. Is it headed for cancellation?
