Not sure if this is the correct forum to post it in. But then again, Spider-man did make a guest appearance in the earlier issues.

Will marvel be re-releasing the Marvel Transformers comic books any time this year in Trade Paper Back format? Especialy considering the movie will be out later this year.

Or is there just too much copywrite and licensing red tape between Hasbro, Ubon (??), Marvel and just about any one else that has any thing to do with transformers?

I'm pretty sure Marvel doesn't own the books anymore, much like how old Marvel Star Wars and Conan comics have been published by Dark Horse. However, the Spider-Man issue will probably have to be completely removed from any would-be trade.

And honestly, given the rather craptacular art and stories in the old series, it's probably best to leave them off the market. They made old GI Joes look like Steranko Captain Americas.

The whole G1 series (minus the 2 UK material issues), the whole G2 series, the Headmasters mini and a good chunk of the UK TF series are/were available from Titan Books in trade but I guess they are mostly out of print, although they could/should be available via Amazon.com or Milehighcomics.com

For the most part the Marvel run was forgettable, but I did really like the end of the series when Simon Furman took over as writer and had Geoff Senior and then Andrew Wildman on art . Those trades are definelty worth looking at. Amazon had all of these in stock.

Transformers: Primal Scream - 56-62
Transformers: Matrix Quest - 63-68
Transformers: All Fall Down - 69-74
Transformers: End of the Road - 75-80

I thought they were all really fun reads.

Plus tons of dreamwave trades.

The stories with spider-man, death head, dr who, and circut breaker are still owned by hasbro and are getting reprinted by idw.

Marvel owns spider-man, death head, and circut breaker but not the transformers stories they showed up in.

TITAN BOOKS, a UK company, released the entire Marvel series (original + Gen.2) in TPBs a few years ago.

They made variant hardcovers of the trades, too, with new cover art by all sorts of creators - Bryan Hitch, John Byrne, Dave Gibbons and several other pretty big-name guys.
