View Full Version : Did the Transformers exist in the 616 Marvel universe?

There are actually a vast amount of allusions to 616 Marvel within the TF comics. Not just the Spider-man cameo, but SHIELD, Roxxon, the Savage Land, etc. get several mentions. Circuit Breaker appeared in Secret Wars II.

I'm pretty convinced they were in the 616 Marvel Uni, but simply took off and left at some point. Given their relatively short tenure, and the fact that the people of 616 Earth have to deal with things like Galactus anyway, I think it's believable. Most of their "Giant Robot Fighting!" took place in the desert, forests, etc. or on other planets altogether.

I like to believe they are, and I hope the Avengers/TF crossover wraps this up and deals with what happened to them.

Like most licenced titles, only the official marvel creations like Circuitbreaker may still exist. The TF characters themselves are probably retconned out of marvel.

Hmmm... it's a shame that while Marvel had the Transformers trademark, they never did anything with Galactus and Unicron. That would have been interesting.

It's one of those things where even if it did exist, it'd never be referenced again.

As for the upcoming crossover, I don't think we're likely to see a connection to the old comics. The modern Transformers comics are something like half-a-dozen continuities removed from the old Marvel days.

Offiicially? No. While early Transformers issues had several Marvel characters and references, as time passed it was obvious they couldn't have really existed in the 616 reality. The basic line on this one is that the Transformers Universe (at least the one published by Marvel) had at least some of the same characters as seen in 616 (Spider-Man, etc.).

It all boils down to if Marvel doesn't own it, it's not part.

I'm sure Marvel would love to do more Micronauts, Conan and Doc Savage books but they don't own the characters.

Except the Micronauts do still exist in the MU. Kind of. Except Acroyear, and... I forget the other one. And they're called the Microns now.

And while Conan may not exist, Kulan Gath was being used as late as Paradise X.

True but I'm sure Marvel would like the name value, Micronauts and Conan are cultural icons of sorts. I miss the Conan and Micronaut books. Conan actually was featured in three or four titles a month for a time in the 70's. One was a really cool over-sized blk and wht.

Transformers do exist in the Marvel Universe, just not in the 616 reality. They are from Earth...um, can't remember the number. But if you read the Death's Head entry in Marvel Universe Handbook A-Z #3, you'll see the Earth #, as well as references to Rodimus Prime, and Galvatron.

As to Circuit Breaker in SW #3, that apparently has been retconned as the Beyonder jumping to a different reality to talk to her. Still wish the Exiles would pick her up as a temporary member.

Anyone got Marvel Universe 3 at hand for the Earth #?

Never mind. The Transformers are from Earth-120185.

Circut breaker was gone by the generation 2 comic witch lead some fans to think she got sent to the main 616 universe. This is why she was in secret wars.

Marvel owns death head also.

He was zapped out of the transformers universe by unicron, shrunk to human size by Dr who (marvel just calls him the docter now.), and sent to the 616 universe by him also.

The spider-man, nick fury, fantastic four, and savage land from the transformers comic is not the main ones but the ones from the transformers universe.

Gijoe comic takes place in the same universe also.

Now there's a guy i wouldn't mind seeing hanging about in the MU a bit more often.

Bring back the Doctor, i say!

Yes, and Death's Head! The real deal this time. Everyone's favorite Freelance Peacekeeping Agent.

Actually, he's always been called just the Doctor. The show is Doctor Who, he isn't.

Marvel doesn't have the license any more - they handed it over to Panini, who print Marvel titles in the UK and the rest of Europe.

Yes, though only briefly - most of the time, Marvel characters seem to have gone to see him rather than him coming to 616. Details here.

Actually the mini-series was set in 616, which is where Spider-Man battled Megatron.

The mini-series sold very well, and they turned it into a regular series that was not in the 616. But GI Joe and Transformers occupied the same universe.

Unfortunately, that is no longer the case officially. While it was intended to be in the beginning, all issues are now considered non-616. Earth-Transformers just has its own Spider-Man, etc. instead now.

Marvel Transformers are from Earth-120185.

And there is probably still quite a few Marvel super-heroes in that reality. From the actual sereis, we can assume that there is a Spider-Man, a Fantastic Four, SHIELD, Godzilla, Dazzler, Savage Land (so maybe a Ka-zar?)

Nick fury is in transformers issue 3 and talks about godzilla so he's in the transformers universe to.

Well, yeah, that's why I mentioned SHIELD, so I wouldn't have to type Nick Fury and Dum Dum Dugan. ;)

Another way to say it is that there were 2 sets (or more), events on 616 and 120185 happened the same way until whenever the last marvel character appeared in the comic. After that the 616 transformers left earth 616 or ran out of fuel and life went on. While on 12018 it continued.

Panini, who distribute Marvel reprint titles in Europe, bought the license from them. Dr. Who Magazine continues an unbroken run under new management.
